We're also going with Certainteed cement siding. From what we understand though is that while these have great longevity & written warranty, you MUST get it installed properly or else the warranty is very difficult to take advantage of.

We also have Certainteed -- Cedar Impressions. As Annie said, it wasn't cheap. Love it! We were also looking for low maintenance since we are seniors.

Annie, what color is your siding? We are building and the builder has priced Certainteed, and I'm having a hard time settling on a color. I like yours, but am wanting white trim. Also, what color shingles are those? Thanks for your help!

jessrae- sounds nutty, at this point but check with your insurance agent, too, within quality product. There are certain parts of the country where one or the other (whichever!) siding is considered the best fire retardant material. You get insurance discounts for that stuff.

Dagnabbit! Still- a decent place to start, for anybody who needs a bit of info.

I am building right now and went with a gorgeous light grey stone and Certainteed Pacific Blue siding. I debated LP board for months and ultimately decided against it.

#1 if it isn't properly installed you will have problems.

#2 my house is on 13 acres of timber, so the expense and potential problems aren't worth it. Had I been in a neighborhood or in an area where it would be seen I would have went with LP board and micromanaged its installation.
