We are in the process of adding on to our home and have come across the exterior doors that have the sidelites that open has anyone had any experience with Jeld Wen doors and also with the sidelites that actually open up. Thank you for any information you may have on either or both questions.

What material are the doors and sidelites made from? Wood Jeldwen is a decent door, fiberglass and steel are middle of the road at the best. As far as durability and weather tightness of the unit most of that will depend on the system used and the millwork shop that actually hangs the door as Jeldwen does not do the actual setup or prehanging. Are you purchasing these form a true lumberyard or door and window shop or a box store (HD, Lowes, etc ((which I do not recommend by the way))?

Oh no they are fiberglass doors, and yes it is HD. We have tried to use our local lumber yard for everything but trying to find a source with them for doors with actual functioning sidelights has been so unsuccessful. They were not able to come up with anything. Both doors will be completely under roof. We have an excellent contractor who did the remodel of the original cabin and is doing all the work on the new construction. So at a lost on what to do about this.
