I got my paper edition a couple of days ago. If you google around, you can find a year's subscription as low as $24.

I only wish the people I build for weren't all so adamant that "they're not designers but they know what they like."

For those of you who might be unfamiliar with the Architectural Digest, it is a high-end interior design magazine with only a passing interest in architecture. Most of the furnishings shown are available through interior designers rather than retail stores.

Whenever I look at upscale interior design shots I can't help noticing that most of them start with fabulous rooms: extensive old paneling, mouldings, huge windows framing lush landscapes, ceilings that are variously coffered, beamed, plasterwork, etc. You'd have to be a dunce to make rooms like these look 'bad'.
