I did not see a better forum for this post. We are on a pretty tight budget with our build and we really want shingles because of the overall look we are going with on the house- PWN wooded cottage.

Our builder uses a panelling system where walls are premade and delivered to your site on trucks (not a modular or prefabricated home). If you use a siding different than shingles, that can be done in the factory but shingles have to be done on site. Our builder was talking about shingles needing to be pre-dipped and individually nailed on... but DH and I were sure there were different, cheaper methods to achieve a similar (not the same) look.

Anyone have any good resources?
