| Hello All!
I did not see a better forum for this post. We are on a pretty tight budget with our build and we really want shingles because of the overall look we are going with on the house- PWN wooded cottage. Our builder uses a panelling system where walls are premade and delivered to your site on trucks (not a modular or prefabricated home). If you use a siding different than shingles, that can be done in the factory but shingles have to be done on site. Our builder was talking about shingles needing to be pre-dipped and individually nailed on... but DH and I were sure there were different, cheaper methods to achieve a similar (not the same) look. Anyone have any good resources? Thank you :) |

| There are manufacturers (like Premier Forest) who make real cedar shingles in panels. CertainTeed makes fiber-cement shingles that mimic cedar shingles/shakes in panels as large as 15" x 60" (3 courses tall) with 15" high corner shingles in 19 colors. And then there are vinyl shingles. I don't know the cost differences. I'm surprised the wall panel manufacturer doesn't offer some of them. |
Here is a link that might be useful: CertainTeed shingles

| Thanks Renovator8! I have no idea what the price difference is either. I will have to find the cheapest one that stays true to the character of the house. |
