Exterior Color Suggestions

Looking for some ideas/advice on exterior colors for our house! Building has started, foundation is in, framing starts tomorrow or Friday! The house is being built in Minnesota on an acreage lot, south facing front. We are going for a country/farmhouse look, there will be no stone or brick, cement board siding. The front porch will be stained wood. I like the look of a white farmhouse, but am worried about the house looking a little blah. Let me know what you all think.

That's a tough one. I am building next door (North Dakota) and wasn't sure what to do there either. I opted to go with a grey siding with white trim/porch. I recommend driving around a few new neighborhoods to see what you like. You might also be able to eliminate a few color choices by seeing what your neighbors have (if they're close) so you don't do the same as them. I think white looks nice but you could "jazz" it up with a trim color and shutters.

I vote white with a distinct color on the sash.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am still leaning towards a white. Would it look funy with the garage & dormer a different color than the rest of the house? I was thinking possibly red. The garage is set back about 2 feet from the front of the house and the porch will be 10 feet forward of the garage.

You can not go wrong with white.

If you decide to go with some color, here is a color scheme that I like (see link)
You could use white for the trim and columns, beige walls and the garage can be the color of the shutters.

The garage door will not look funny in a different color.
I am not suggesting black, this is just to show you that contrasting garage doors looks good (if you select the right color. Make sure you take in consideration the color of the roof.
