Think about this; pretend you're buying a house where the basement had flooded and the owners cleaned it up and painted without disclosing the flood. You find out about it after telltale signs begin to appear of water damage. What would you do? How would you feel/

If you have issues with your siding due to improper installation or product quality, I think you're obligated to either disclose or repair/replace prior to selling. Are the issues more than cosmetic? If not, then maybe you can calk and paint as you mentioned. It's no different than doing the same thing on an old wood clapboard house the way I see it.

Dlm-I am aware of disclosure requirements. That's one of the reasons I posted here. Does this even qualify as one of those issues? That's what I am asking. I would never s**** anyone over by selling a damaged home and trying to hide it.

Do any of the experts here think that caulking the cracks and painting the house are sufficient? And if we don't do this, are we at risk for water intrusion issues?

Well I'm no expert but your last question is what I was asking you - is this cosmetic only? - because then it's no different (in my mind) than any house that needs fresh paint. What about calling the manufacturer for a determination?
