A/C and Heating Zones

Would it make sense for there to be only 2 A/C zones and 3 heating zones on my spec sheet? Or should they both be the same. It is a force heat home.

I should think that the heating and cooling zones are one and the same. Will you be occupying your house during both heating and cooling seasons?

The number of zones depends entirely on the layout and number of floors in your house. A small one-level house is quite different than a large 4-level house.

Yes. We will live there full time. Do they use the same vents?

Depends on the HVAC system. For a forced-air system, yes the heating and cooling equipment distribute heated and cooled air through the same ducts and diffusers. In this sort of system, one likely will have the same zones for heating and cooling.

OTOH, if you are using a boiler and piped distribution system for heating, then heating will be via some sort of radiator or in-slab, in-floor piped distribution system. Cooling will likely be ducted. I suppose in this type of system one might have different zones for heating and cooling.
