| My family was evacuated Friday afternoon in Utah for a wildfire and there were thoughts of having to rebuild our home that we build less than two years ago. We got back in last night due to heroic efforts of many firefighters and volunteers. I am grateful for our 9 year old son who looked out the window and yelled, "Fire, fire!" There were flames about 200 yards from our home. The winds were horrible and it was miraculous that only four homes burned. The fire came within about 30 yards of our home.
So just some helpful hints to those of you who might be facing a disaster: 1. People are more important than things.
My husband was out of the country when we evacuated, but he knew we were safe. That was a blessing. The shelter was a refuge and the people who just dropped off supplies were so appreciated. Home Depot sent over employees and scores of project kits for the kids to keep them occupied. So with gratitude in my heart and hopes that none of you will face the same, my prayers go out to so many who have lost homes this wildfire season. |

| Congrats. I feel bad for those people. They pain just started as they have to deal with insurance adjuster. Good luck. I wish one day tornado or fire hit one of those LibertyMutuals building and they insurance will measure exact sq ft of wet wall, damaged flooring, and pay only for those. And tell them that roof patch is ok, ugly hole on the side of the building is ok, based on like verbiage snuck in the policy and they have no chance to take them to court as "settlement" provision state that if you disagree with crooked appraisal process, your are in the breach of contract not them.

| So glad you came out ok! That's scary stuff...yesterday there was a fire in our community and even though it was not close to our neighborhood, it still worried me. I'm in Arkansas, and I couldn't begin ot tell you how many "small" fires have broken out of the past few days. In fact, I just heard of a new one that's already 70 acres and not contained. Hopefully we all get some much needed rain soon! |

| "Work" the woods that surround your home. Take down trees that are too close together. Space the trees apart as though it were a mature forest. Keep the brush lower than the lower branches of the trees. "Limb" your trees up. Remove dead branches and snags. It's good exercise and will make your woods more attractive and walkable. Fire might even pass low and slow under your trees. |
