Building a Home

How much should I be at the new build site?

We are planning to break ground on our new home in August. I am working two jobs with limited flexibility. My spouse will also not be available during the day. We do plan to go by every evening.

Are there specific parts of the build that I will need to be more available to be at the home site? When you built, how much were you at the location? Should we postpone until I can get more flexibility with my schedule?

Modest home 2200 sq. feet, with finished 800 sq. feet basement space.

Do you have a GC or are you GC'ing the build yourself? If you are the GC, you really need to be almost constantly involved and I would say once a day. If you have hired a GC, once a week during working hours.

If you selected the right design, and the right GC, then a couple of times a week is sufficient. If you are the GC, then you are in an untenable position. You will need to be there almost constantly, especially in the beginning stages.
