This may be a really stupid question but is there a rule of thumb when it comes to placing a door knocker on a front door? I'm assuming it goes in the middle of the door about 2/3rds of the way up from the bottom. But what do you do if you have an 8 foot door? I'm a little on the short side (4'11") but if I put it 2/3rds up it'd be over my head by a few inches�

I'm a music teacher and one of my students bought me a beautiful cast iron treble clef door knocker as a house-warming gift. I'm thinking it might have to be more decorative and less functional on the studio door rather than my front door�.

Any thoughts?
