Only difference between and energy truss and a standard truss is the heel height, which is the height of the truss at the outside wall.

Standard trusses carry approx a 3 1/2" heel, and a standard energy truss here, has a 7 1/4" heel height. Other than that, they are exactly the same truss once you leave the plate line.

This allows for a thicker insulation level at the very exterior of the building.

Cost difference should be minimal. It's more of a specifications thing than a price thing.

3 3/4" of additional insulation if we go w/ energy efficient trusses. In addition it is maybe 3 additional rows of brick.

Yep, raising the heel height, raises the soffit line and the peak height.
