Oooo..I have that on my shelf! (Macunovich book) In fact I have a bunch of the books recommended on the landscape design forum, where cd and I had rather discouraging visits.

You were right and I realized it too late--that I needed a picture, which I don't have. I will later, but don't feel welcome as a poster over there. Might just lurk.

Now I realize that is the forum our local radio/TV garden show guy and his cohorts have mentioned in the past. They like to hang out there, but did mention it was a little "rough."

It just sounded like garden enthusiasts to me rather than professionals. I think it's a different kind of group than I'm interested in interacting with.

So, thanks for the links. (I read about half of the "is it all gone" thread.) Maybe since landscaping is an integral part of Building a Home, we could sometimes discuss that here.

It seems perfectly appropriate to me (and I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm mistaken) that landscaping IS an integral part of building a new home.

I've got the same issue with the garage as you do. It may be worse in our case, because you come up a hill and the first thing in view is the garage and fenced side yard. It couldn't be helped, but I'm trying to find ways to soften the effect..... I'm going to try to find that last book that was mentioned on your thread.
