If seating is done right (smaller seating) there should be no problem. 1080P projection will allow for close seating without screen door issues, etc. Make sure you pay attention to cooling the room (mini split for example). Projectors, people, etc. can bring the temps up very fast.

The front row of seats in our theater room are about 9' away from a 108" screen and there's no issue for us with sitting this close. Our projector and most of what we watch is in 1080p. Some friends and family prefer to sit in the back row of seats but not that different than a movie theater.

Our room is not as wide as yours so we went with seating that was slightly smaller than in our previous house but haven't had an issue there as well. We also offset the screen and seating to one side of the room so have one aisle because of the width.

You mention it will be a little "tight". I think the room use will help you decide whether that will be a problem. We use our theater to watch movies, sporting events, etc. where the main purpose is to watch the screen, It's not a multipurpose room where people are walking in and out often so once we're in and settled and the lights are down, there's no feeling of being too cozy. 9' is fine for most movies, mine are about 10' with a 100" screen, and the only movie I had an issue with was Avatar. I felt a little motion sick in the front row of that one.

Could you flip the doors to open out instead of in? Then you could have Loveseat (2 seat) units on each side of the door and then a central couch unit for the front row. Our doors are on the side of the room, but still are outswing to keep the room dimensions useable.

If you google Home Theater dimensions, you can find some spreadsheets that you can enter all your info into and find out if you'll have any audio or visual problems with your setup.

we could flip the room, right now we have double doors from our game room opposite the screen. I really wanted this set up to maximize sight lines to the screen if we had a big party for the super bowl, etc. Additionally, if we were going with two levels in the room, I don't think our downstairs floor plan / ceiling heights would allow us to rotate the orientation of the room.
