We have been very pleased with our Emerson ceiling fans. Both are over 11 years old. We replaced something in one of them a couple of years ago--don't recall what it was. That one is on all night in the summer months. The other isn't used as much. We choose to go lightless on one. The other, in our bedroom, has uplighting which I love for the bedroom. I can't stand fan lights in my eyes.

My first Hunter fans lasted 11 years -- and then we sold the house, so for all I know they're still fine. My "new" Hunter fans are now 13 years old and going strong.

Could it be something with your installation?

lk-we've purchased at big box for our fans - 4 of them. They are lighted, run quiet and steady - never a problem. I think they are about 3-4 years old? We stay middle of the line within big box. I think they are hunters?

We purchased a ceiling fan for our basement on-line about 6 years ago - I think it might have been Casablanca and it's fine also although very rarely used.
