So called "Walk Out Basements" are generally considered an asset - a desired feature.

I think your post included the main reasons. I have French Doors - that allows access for large items , to include replacement furnace, replacement A/C coil, rider mower during winter for winterizing and tuneup, etc,

Additionally, in the future you may decide to finish your basement and having a door increases your options.... like having the rough-ins for a bathroom installed at time of construction.

Any basement that will allow you to use an outside door is important IMHO.

In the event of a fire I would want to have a basement with 2 easily accessible means of escape.

I would't buy a house without an outside door into the basement, I'm not even sure that having no means of access is code legal here. I don't recall seeing a house with no outside door to the basement. Going from a bulkhead to a real walk-out, if your house is on a slope, is a real asset to the property for all the reasons outlined above.

The house I just sold was built for us by a production builder, and to save money we did not have them put in a welled exit with stairs. Code required an egress window with a ladder, but that was all there was. It was a HUGE issue with every single potential buyer when we went to sell.

Absolutely exterior entrance to basement! I won't look at a house without one unless I can easily add one (and it's generally not easy if it hasn't already been done).

Well I talked to the architect and I have two options.. I can either

A) Place an exterior entrance on first floor that enters through the side of house and uses staircase already in place..

Or

B) Do a welled exit which was recommended to come out from morning room as it would give the most room when entering...
