Front Door Jam Deadbolt Plate

Just recently moved into our new custom home, albeit somewhat earlier than the contractor expected. After a few weeks I noticed that the deadbolt plate on the front door jam looked like it was either overcut or had to be moved. As a result, they filled the 1/4" gap with putty (photo attached). I also noticed that the plate is missing a couple screws. Is this the correct way to repair the doorjam plate area or are there other options and is this a structural issue or just aesthetic. It was a fairly expensive fiberglass door with sidelights and I'm assuming the whole unit would need to be replaced to change the doorjam out. Thanks in advance for any well informed advice.
