Roof tile, clay 2-piece vs s-tile

We planned for 2-piece cap and pan but are wondering if we need to consider s-tile due to price and finding a roofer that knows how to install the 2-piece style.

Specs: New construction, Spanish Colonial style, Northern California, 3000 sq ft, 3:12 pitch, clay tile. Inspiration is early California, Historic Montecito, Glendale, San Diego, Pasadena, San Clemente, etc.

We prefer the authenticity of 2-piece but looking for insight on price. We know it's more tiles so greater labor and cost. Color to be a blend of red clay colors so requires some artistry in color mixing. Trusses were designed to accommodate the weight of either style.

Also, do you know of a roofer in Northern California that can do this style?

You might have better luck with google!

My comment has nothing to do with two piece vs s-tile. We left a home with s-tile (which isn't perfect) for one with 2-piece, which isn't perfect either. There are problems with both. If one part of the S gets damaged, you replace the entire thing.

I stupidly agreed that the HVAC dude could steal end tiles from the custom designed dog house for the roof, and he promised to replace them.

Did that happen? NO!

But I found many online, and if I have to do it myself, I will. It's not about the dog! It's the principal! We are missing two very visible tiles!

Actually, we don't even have a dog for that special place in our newly purchased home, but we bought it intact, and now it's ruined! I'd love a dog, but there are mountain lions who would eat that doberman for lunch......
