I would inform the builder immediately. You don't want to have the carpet being replaced or repaired after you move in with furniture, etc.

Or the builder saying you did it.

The cleaning crew should have insurance for such things.

Not necessarily bleach. I had the same discoloration on a similar color carpet as a result of a drop of aerosol furniture polish.

To answer about patching... yes they can cut it out and patch it. But, immediate is better so there is no question about "who" caused it.

Yes, we have sent a message to our builder about the issue so he can handle. Waiting for a response. In the meantime, interesting about the furniture polish - who knew. Not sure why the cleaning crew would have been using either necessarily in an empty new home but I am certainly not a cleaning expert :).

If a patch can be done and look good, I'll be fine. Just unfortunate when you have brand new carpet to see those glaring stains! Thanks -
