| We received three bids before selecting a builder. If there is any advice I can give--it is to vet every one of them. Get references from current and former clients. Talk to the subs. An important question to ask - are the subs paid on time. If not, how late is the payment. I would go so far as to talk to vendors - lumber yards, plumbing supply warehouse, etc. The lowest bid is not necessarily the best bid. Review each line item ensuring the builder is bidding with the quality of material you want/requested. It is your money and you have to protect it. This is the only home we built and the lessons learned are significant. If you wish to talk offline, my email is on mypage. |

| I recommend not hiring the guy with the nicest truck. I often bid against 1 or 2 other people. |
