The brick looks like a variation of used Chicago brick. Used Chicago comes in a lot of varieties ranging from tan/brown to yellowish/pink. This looks like the tan variation with smeared ivory mortar. The roof looks like slate or a very good imitation. Hope this helps a little.

Thanks for your help...I definitely will be using architectural shingles. No way could I afford slate. Would like to get a color that is similar to the inspiration.

That house is similar to ours which is still in progress. We have painted brick as well. We did an architectural shingle - Certainteed moire black. They say it looks like vermont slate and while that is a stretch the color is spot on to a dark slate with not a lot of color variation. I need to take another picture because they have uncovered the windows and painted the trim and it looks totally different!

Here is a fuller view with the plastic off. . . Copper gutters and shutters and gas lanterns come next which should hopefully give it some color definition!

One more tip - are you doing some sort of clad window or are you painting them? If you are doing clad windows, I would price those out and select those first. That way you know which direction to go with the white paint - some are sort of gray white and some are a truer white. Our clad color was very limiting and drove the color of our house. Although I am happy with the results (sort of a greige - doesn't really show correctly on my monitor), it was very limiting. Your inspiration house has copper gutters also. Copper is at an all time high like most metals. We did copper gutters but the gutters were a clad copper and the downspouts are true copper (they didn't do the round gutters like we liked). If you are considering that, I can get you the name. Like you, slate was out of the budget and frankly the copper gutters were too but our clad color was so funny that finding a gutter that worked was impossible (we didn't want bronze). There are lots of good looking, half round, clad gutters. I might get those samples too when you are picking windows and then you can get gutters and windows that work together (you could just do white gutters - Suzanne Kasler did on her house but the half round ones). . . . If I had taken my own advice I would have saved a fortune! P.S. Where are you in GA? We are in Athens . . .

Wow!~ Thanks Athens...I have been following your build for awhile. Your house is beyond gorgeous. Great advice - I think we will go with painted windows. I know that will mean a bit more maintenance. However, getting the correct white on the home is more important and I don't want to limit myself too early. I have a habit of changing my mind 1000 times. For the gutters...I love the look of copper, but since the house is white I will probably go with white. I think it will just blend away. I will try to find a pic of Kasler's house or do a drive by :) Like you, I have to pick and choose where I splurge. The house will be close to 7000 sq ft and we are finishing the entire basement...so I am trying not to get too carried away lol I really like your roof color too. I think it would be complimentary on this house. Once I narrow the paint stone and brick that will make the roof so much easier. We are in Milton...it is the northern part of Alpharetta.

Athensmom! Your house is looking awesome! You must be getting so excited, how much longer? Gaonmymind, no advice, although we did painted brick, too- just wanted to wish you luck! Your house will be lovely!

The picture of your brick came from this website.
Here is a link that might be useful: Historical Brick

FYI - we are using bluestone on our front porches and walkways and Charlestowne tumbled brick by Cherokee on our upper and lower terrace and screened porch. It works well with our neutral color and is not overly expensive. It is a tumbled old style brick. We are using ivory buff mortar. It is not installed yet and may be too dark for a stark white but it looks nice with our greige color . . .
