Building for (more) snow

Coming in from clearing 6" of snow WHILE it's snowing, I appreciate what my mom built into her house: a drip closet with a drain. Our mittens and hats are clipped to a hanger over the laundry room sink, the boots are on ventilated shelves set into the boot trays (they dry well that way), and the jackets are melting above them.

Where are YOUR gloves drip-drying?

We have a grooming tub in the laundry/mud room with a rod above it for hanging items to dry. Boots can be placed on the grate in the tub. That grooming tub gets used for all kinds of things.

Would Love a grooming tub (and it sounds, and surely looks, so much nicer than utility sink).

bpath-I think if we'd have had this winter before we designed our home it might have been a little bit different, ha! We have a smallish but decent locker area with a vent and plug for a boot dryer.......that's it! It would have been awesome to be able to heat the tile. I think that would dry things out (including puddles from boots) quickly.

Right now where we are at we use the dryer frequently to keep things dry since it has been so constant, very wasteful. :(
