 o
12' to 9' ceiling transition

My living room is going to have 12' ceilings and the kitchen will have 9'. my plans call for an 8' cased opening between the two rooms, 10' wide. the designer suggested i could do away with the cased opening and just transition from the 9' to the 12'. in other words, the 9' ceiling would just 90 up to the 12' ceiling height. i guess the problem would be on the 9' side you wouldnt have a lot of room for the C.O. trim and crown moulding. besides that i think everything else would look fine.

does anyone have any suggestions or maybe some pictures i could look at to make my decision? google wasnt much help

I took this pic for you with my iPhone from my kitchen. Not very good. Nine ft flat Ceiling there with 12 ft tray ceiling in family room. Separated by wood header and columns. Hope this helps.
