Toy Storage Idea for You

For those of you with kids and especially those with two level homes, I saw this idea on another thread - have a walk-in closet on the main floor to use just for toy storage. This is a place on the main level where you can cram all those oversize toys and a spot to organize the smaller ones. I think this is a great idea. A playroom in the basement is nice too, but the reality is that the kids spend a lot more time upstairs with mom and dad. I love this idea and just thought I'd share!!!

Thanks Happymommy - we are having a heck of problem with toys ALL OVER THE HOUSE! We built a "toy room" and realized much too late that the dream of having our youngsters play in the dedicated toyroom (even if there's a TV in there) is just that - a dream. We have turned the toyroom into a storage room for toys and everything else. We tried to be very realistic about our lifestyle when planning the house but this is one that we missed.

I know! I think it is so obvious, I guess, but it had never occurred to me to incorporate something like this on the main level.

Hehehehe...this is the EXACT reason why we drew in so many closets into our plans. Our arch. designer asked why we wanted to have so many closets, and my response was, "Cause we have THREE small kids! Look at our current house...a total mess!"

I just removed the toy room from my house in my remodel. It was always a mess. If I ever build, I will NOT build a whole toy room. Big giant storage closets YES. Toy room, no.
