Hardie Plank...diff. between mustard & gray primed?

We live in the south and I've seen both put on houses. Both are put on and then painted (so neither is the final color). What's the difference in these two versions? Someone I know said some people here who used the mustardy yellow were having paint coverage issues and to see if we could specify getting the gray. Before I specify, I'd like to know the difference/ Thanks!

We had both colors on our house (TN). The yellow was the Hardie product and the gray was the Nichiha product. We used nichi shakes & battens, and we used hardy boards (for the board & batten) and hardie soffits and fascias and trim around the windows.

Our paint covered the yellow hardie fine - in 2 coats.

We are planning on Hardy boards and Nichiha shakes as well. Has anyone noticed any fading from painting Hardy boards? Thanks!
