Window height & size

I am sketching a exterior view of our house and need some general info, the two story section will be 20ft wide by 19 tall(sidewalls) with 9 ft cellings on the bottom and 8 or 9 on the top floor,I'm thinking if using 7 ft doors, what is the distance from the floors(1st&2nd) should the bottom of the windows be placed and should they be lined up with the top of door on 1st floor?i am just trying to get a idea on size and placement so I can rough sketch it.
I'm also thinking about a large slider for the rear of house that's 20 ft wide, any recommendations?it will be similar to this barn design but bigger.

There are no rules. You can do what you wish. There are, however, good principles about shape, proportion and the like. And there are accepted characteristics for various architectural styles, ranging from modern to historical.

What works for your house?
