Sharp Microwave Drawers?

We're considering putting a microwave drawer in the kitchen island. From my research so far, I've only been able to find 'Sharp" brand, of these none have a turntable!
For those who have the microwave drawer do you have to keep opening the drawer to manually rotate the food?
If not, does the food come out evenly heated?
Thanks! |

| I don't have one yet, but we plan to put one in our island as well. There have been quite a few threads on this -- not sure if the search function is working correctly. From what I understand, the food is evenly heated without the turntable and most people seem to like how the microwave cooks in general. I know Wolf makes a micro drawer and one other company that I can't remember. However, they are all made by Sharp, to my understanding, but they have different appearances on the outside and are more expensive. |

| We have the Sharp Microwave drawer without a turntable. I don't open the drawer and rotate the food while it is cooking. Food comes out evenly heated. Really like mine. |

| I was wondering same thing. I found out that there is a different technology that is used so a turntable is not needed, and the food warms evenly, so I would not worry. They seem superconvenient, I am also getting one in my new house. |

| So glad to see this post. I too will be ordering a Sharp drawer. I am getting the 24" wide ss model. Sure wish it wasn't so pricey but we don't have room for a conventional microwave oven. I too was worried about no turntable and figured I would have to open and stir. Glad to hear that it is unnecessay. |

Thank you everyone for the feedback! That's one of the features I love about this site, the consumers personal experience and review! Thanks again! |

I do not have one but I like Microwave Drawers and I have seen them in use. Microwave are one of the appliances that can be used by kids old enought to know that they can not place any metals in it and it is very helpful to place them at kids reach (island or base cabinets) - and not too far from the refrigerator. You will be happy with it. |

| I put in a 24" one last summer. I was actually surprised that it didn't have a turntable (missed that point in my research), and dismayed at first. But I can say it's fine without it. Yes I do stop stuff halfway to turn it over/rotate, but I did that will my old micro that had a turntable. So it's turned out to be a nonissue for me. As an aside, overall I really like the microwave drawer, would recommend it. |

| Do you any of you have a problem with when you are putting in a plate to reheat something it would seem you would have to tilt the plate down in order to get it in the drawer and gravy or whatnot might slide or drip off the side of the plate. Am I over thinking this? |

| To answer that last question, no that doesn't happen. The drawer opens all the way to you just set the plate right down. No spilling, no tipping. Again, really happy with mine. |

| We put a microwave in our island 5 years ago when we were building the house we live in now. The drawer one wasn't around yet, so we put a standard one in and ordered a special faceplate to go around it. The faceplate cost more than the microwave! Anyway, we love it in that spot. The kids don't have to climb on the counters to use it! One thing, if you have smaller kids, they will push the buttons when you are aren't looking! Mine are older, but little guests sometimes do. On our new build I am putting in the Sharp. |
