Living room too narrow?

I am looking at this plan. I would move the wall and use part of the dining room as a music room near the foyer. The rest of that space would add on to the kitchen. The family room space would be for our dining table.

I would open up the wall between living and family. I will also need a place for our homeschool stuff so I was looking for a "longer" living room. Most living rooms that have traffic through them need to be at least 16' if not 18' wide to flow well, right? This one is only 12'. But I don't see it being a place that would have a lot of traffic through it necessarily. Am I kidding myself? Is this going to end up being awful?

It seems that if you need to modify a plan that much, it is probably not a good plan for you. What is it that you like about this plan? Maybe you should look for a different plan that fits your needs better.

What I like is that it is on the small side compared to what else I have found. I liked that the living room was longer so I could utilize the length for both living room and school room stuff. Yet later it could be used for something else.

It looks fairly simple to build.

Has a decent space coming in from the garage.

There are other plans I like better that are much closer to what I *want* but they are more like 2500 sf which is not in the budget. Heck, I'm not even sure this is in the budget.

This plan is one that would need very few changes. But the master bedroom is way bigger than we need. The foyer seems to have quite a bit of space that, while lovely, isn't economical. The garage isn't big enough and it doesn't look as simple to make it bigger in this plan. The other plan had the garage more separated where we could change the size.
