i am trying to find the paperwork where we had them add in crown molding for the entire 1st floor which is close to your estimated amount.. I believe the quote was 2k to add in the crown molding..

I would be happy with that. I'm kind of expecting it to be closer to 3k. There are a lot of short runs and turns. I'm assuming that adds to the cost.

Room shape (cuts), ceiling height (ladders or scaffolding for access), actual crown design (cove vs victorian, and how the pieces fit together and how well) will all impact pricing. There's no comparison between a square 8' ceilinged room using stock molding from a box store in AR to a 14' ceilinged room with coffers and a specialty molding in MA. One will be thousands more. Yes, thousands.

All of the areas will have 9' ceilings.

Mine quoted $17k for normal crown 2 pieces on main and 1 on second floor. All are wood no MDF though

It ended up more like 280 linear feet. Price came in at $4600. Breaks down to about $16.50 per linear foot. That is for materials, installation and painting. I feel like it's a fair price. Agree?
