Building a Home

modification before build

Hello All,

I have set of blueprint without basement. Now, I would like to have a basement. The builder says he could add on-site while building. Should I have it re-draw by the same architect or let's do as- you- build by the builder?

Scroll down the first page of this forum and read the thread titled "Frustrated....need to vent" started by Karen15. You should probably have them drawn in.

I would definitely deal with architect as there will be structural issues and potential changes regarding where utility space is, stair case locations, columns, supports and design for potential uses for the space in the future, even if it isn't a finished basement now...

Not only that the basement would need to be on the plans on file with the building dept and listed on the permit as well as it would need to be inspected by them. I am certain the bank would want it to be on their documents as well.
