Hello.

I am mostly a lurker here, but received great advice from time to time on windows, doors and more. Just wanted to say thanks. We moved in around Thanksgiving & have a lot to do (paint columns, landscaping, etc) but we're so happy to be in. Good luck to those of you still in the trenches!

Katie

It is SO beautiful ---but I already knew that about the kitchen! Thanks so much for sharing the other pictures of your new home --- they are also stunning. I love your mudroom (though mudroom hardly fits, more like a "pretty" room). The exterior is also so beautiful and the entire home just exudes charm. Thanks for sharing.

    Very beautiful home!!

Can you share your exterior color choices? This is the same look we're going for with our home and would love to know some paint colors to look at.

Gorgeous...so clean and bright. I would also love to see a floorplan! The play room off the kitchen is of particular interest. Is the wainscoting mdf, wood or other?

    Hi all.

Thanks very much for your kind responses Sorry for the delay in responding:

Exterior is Mastic Cedar Shake Siding in Natural Cedar

    Windows are Harvey Tribute

Floors are 8 inch wide plank heart pine w/ tung oil & satin poly

Range Hood is Modern Aire (PS29, I think)

Pendant Lights are Restoration Hardware- Benson

Floor Plans- We worked with an architect and I don't have anything on the computer. I'd be happy to answer any layout questions, if I can.

    Thanks again,
    Katie

    Suzienj~

Thanks. I have been checking in to GW quickly these days & not posting, but I've seen your new home and it is gorgeous! And I'm jealous you're already doing window treatments. We'll be in a fishbowl for a while!

The stools are Holsag Bulldog in Heritage Walnut (ordered online from Cymax.com). They are more brown-not really any red. They do have a great variety of stains/finished, though.

Thank you so much!! I think i might order 1 stool to try out-- i just ordered 1 from pottery barn too but it doesnt have a back and DH is not happy about that.... our island is brown so i think that wood you picked would work....

What i can't tell from your pic is what is the seat? Did you leave it wood ? Or did you do a brown leather?

And does the seat swivel? Is it comfortable? Thanks! (Anxiously waiting so i can order!)

PS we have been in a fishbowl for a while and i actually love it-- too bad neighbors are moving in soon -lol

    Thanks!!!

Katie also what height did you go with? if you remember- and what height is it from the floor to the bottom of your countertop (To where your legs would hit if you were crossing your legs?) thanks!

    Hi Suzie~

We had these exact stools in black in our small kitchen in the city & they got TONS of use & abuse (including strap on booster chairs & flung food). They held up so well for over 4 years. We left them for the rentals & they use them now.

I actually ordered the schoolhouse stools from PB first b/c I had seen the wood color in person (I was really concerned about wanting a warm brown, no red, no espresso). They were way too high. We needed a 24 inch seat (I'm a leg crosser). It's about 30 inches from floor to island apron. Holsag offers customized heights, which is great. I should have just gone with these in the first place. They are all wood, no upholstery, stationary, no swivels.

If we weren't going to use stools, I'd go for some stylish backless ones. But, we sit on them a lot. We need backs, kiddos need backs.

Great stools for a busy family, IMHO.
    Good luck!

Thanks Katie- i seem to be at a standstill- DH thinks the Stools should match kitchen table set- but i still haven't found kitchen table that i like (and that doesnt break the bank) uggg-- we tried backless stools- didn't like them either.... to be continued.....
