Help with altering house plans

We finally found a house plan that seems to meet *almost* everything we want. BUT we are worried that the kitchen may be too small (maybe needs another 2 feet between the counters & the island) and I really want a sink & counter top in my laundry room. On this plan, I would really like another foot or 2 of walking space between the washer/dryer & the wall.
I'm not sure that we need the master closet to be quite as big as it is in the plans, so I wonder if we could steal space from there for the laundry? Other than pushing the back wall of the kitchen back, I don't know what else to do to help the kitchen.

It's really hard for me to visualize these things. Does anyone have any ideas?

Also, this house has lots of corners around the outside, & I know a lot of times that can make it more expensive to build. If we lined up more corners (basically adding more square footage), could we end up saving money?
