Does anyone have good recipe? My MIL made some while she was visiting and used Brandy. It was good but, all her recipes are SECRETS!
Thank you.

RE: Sangria Help!

I like to use a south eastern Australian Shiraz...an inexpensive one is fine.
And to a bottle I add the juice of a lemon and the juice of an orange. I slice a slice out of the middle of each for garnish and cut the rest into wedges and squeese.
Sugar to taste...I like 1/4 cup and 2 oz brandy...
Refrigerate at least over night and just before serving add 2 cups of club soda....or if you really want a potent drink...add 1/2 a bottle of champagne...but drink that with care!

2 large juice oranges washed (1 orange sliced and 1 juiced)
1 large lemon washed and sliced
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup Triple Sec
1 bottle inexpensive, fruity, medium-bodied red wine (750 milliliters), chilled

Add sliced orange, lemon, and sugar to large pitcher; mash gently with wooden spoon until fruit releases some juice, but is not totally crushed and sugar dissolves, about 1 minute. Stir in orange juice, Triple Sec, and wine; refrigerate for at least 2, and up to 8, hours.

Before serving, add 6 to 8 ice cubes and stir briskly to distribute settled fruit and pulp; serve immediately.

this recipe is from Americas's Test Kitchen. Having served it on occasion, i can attest that it is quite tasty.

enjoy.

RE: Sangria Help!

For sangia you can use an inexpensive wine. Avoid using red wine that has oak undertones or a lot of tanin as many red wines do. Cheap Lambusco fits the bill.

An important thing to remember is tha the oils from the rind is just as important as the citrus juice. After chilling strain through cheescloth to remove chunks of fruit.

I mix about half cheap red wine like a jug burgundy or merlot with half 7-Up in a large pitcher. Slice one or two oranges, a lemon and a lime. Kind of squeeze the citrus slices as you dump them into the pitcher to get the juices to combine with the wine mixture. Chill.

You can use any fruits but avoid highly acidic fruits such as pineapple, because they detract from the flavor rather than enhance it.

1 ripe nectarine, pitted and sliced
1 apricot, pitted and sliced
5 strawberries, sliced
1 orange, sliced in 1/8 inch thick
1/4 cup orange liquor (Grand Marnier, Cointreau or Triple Sec)
2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
1 bottle dry red wine, such as a Spanish Rioja or French Bordeaux
2 cups orange juice

Place all ingredients in a pitcher and put in the refrige for an hour or two. The mixture needs time to get the flavor from the sliced fruit.

This is the recipe my husband makes for me when I want something cool to drink while out on the porch on a hot day. NancyLouise

I mixed a jug of Sangria with a 2 liter bottle of 7up and floated lemons, oranges and limes. It was a hit - every time.

RE: Sangria Help!

we just went to a party and the person who brought the sangria said she purchased williams-Sonoma mix and added her own wine...it was very yummy. I had the white sangria. Also, Yago sangria is delish ....I just add lemons, limes, oranges and either apples or peach slices.

I just made a huge batch for a block party. It was a huge hit. I need to know how many people you are serving. Essentially, you need red wine (merlot), brandy, triple sec, frozen lemonade mix, orange juice, lemons, oranges, maraschino cherries and limes. I steep the fruit in the alcohol and leave it until I am ready to serve. I add Sprite and serve with ice. Easy and very delicious.
