What is the difference between Cointreau and Gran Marnier? They taste about the same to me.

Not a lot! I think Gran Marinier is a little bit mellower than cointreau..less sharp.
But either will work for whatever.

Both are good orange liqueurs which are high end versions of triple sec, Gran Marnier is actually a brandy based triple sec and to me is smoother and more tasty. Gran Marnier (or Granma) is often drank as a shooter by itself and it is more expensive than Cointreau but both are good in a mixed drink like a margarita.
