Wayne, Disease is always a problem and wilt is a problem I deal with each year. I lost 6 plants under the netting due to wilt, it seem to went straight across in a line down the middle. I also lost one of my Stone mountains. I am completly Organic and I choose not to spray anything even organic sprays. Mainly I choose this approach because I don't have the time to spend worrying about each problem that arises and spending time and money trying to battle it. Instead I choose cultural practices to minimize the effects of insects , birds, deer ,rabbits, coons, squirrels and ever bacterial, fungal and viral microbes out they that want the vegetables and flowers of my garden. I have found the more I learn to let nature take its course and creat a garden inviting to beneficial insects and keeping the ground covered at all timeswith the use of mulches, cover crops, and employing tactics to ward off critters, including vigilant trapping of some pest such as squirrels the garden takes care of it self and I have more time to enjoy my garden and I feel a lot better about the produce I eat and raise. But wilt is probably my worst problem with melons and roatation is the key. I too have grown melons for years but not as long as you have especially in this garden spot. Hopefully I can continue to get a sweet summer melon for my troubles. Frank if referring to the Missouri yellow meated it is a big melon the one pictured is probable 35lbs I picked one the other day and that 's what it weighed. It was devine juicy and sweet. Well ya know what I did. LOL. In the winter sowers swap we got a package of seed named Goat Weed, well it was left with the rest of some of the other seeds I seriously did not know what in the world it was. Well ya really do not know what I went through for that swap. If I did know I got on the computer and looked it up. Well come to find out I found a listing for a herb of Goat weed. I won't say what kind of purposes it has but I will say this, men put down the viagra, LOL... Anywho, well I said heck ok I will keep this, just for that just in case factor!! LOL Well the other day I opened up the pack of seeds and decided to grow it. Well it looked like a pepper seeds. So I went and got back on line and sure enough there is a goat weed pepper, oh my I sure never heard of such. Well long story that finally is put to rest, I sowed that Goat weed pepper the other day. I am going to go ahead and grow them and not worry one bit about them. Though normally I would wait till late february. Boy now I really want that herb goat weed!!! LOL I was really excited about it. Even funnier I had the pack of seeds and before I knew what the herb "goat weed" was used for I handed the pack to my father with the words GOAT WEED in clear bold letters. He just kinda looked at me like are you crazy, LOL. Now I wonder if he knew about the herb and what it was used for!! Oh my, how embarrassed I would be if he did!!! LOL

Ann Home Cookin 4.9 Chapter: Recipes From Thibeault's Table ========================= Posted by Cindy_5ny (My Page) on Sun, Aug 31, 03 at 17:26 Farm Journal Cookbook (1972 Edition) Pastry for 2 crust pie 4 cups grated apples 1 tsp cinnamon 3/4 cup sugar 1/2 cup packed brown sugar 1/4 tsp salt 1/4 cup butter 1/2 tsp vanilla 2 cups hot water * . Roll pastry into 14x12 rectangle. *Combine apples and cinnamon, spread over pastry evenly; then roll up as for jelly roll (from 12" side). Slice into (8) 1 1/2" pieces, sealing edges with toothpicks (I didn't need to use any toothpicks), and place in 11x7x1½ pan, sealed side down. Bake 400 for 15 minutes. *Combine remaining indredients in 2 qt saucepan and bring to a full boil. Pour over apple pinwheels. Return to oven and bake 15 to 20 minutes more, basting twice, until apples are tender. Makes 8 servings. Note: I adjusted the recipe by using one cup water and one cup cream for the caramel sauce.

When I curse someone these days I tell them May your toilet back up during your colonoscopy prep! The Suprep was recommended and highly pushed when I had mine but at over $125 co-pay I said no and went with the alternative, Go-Lytely which was something like $10 co-pay. That was a LOT of volume to drink (and I debated maybe I should have just paid for it) but for me it wasn't taking the stuff that was the worst. I had lemon drops I'd take after taking the stuff and it came with a lemon flavor packet. They said you could mix Crystal Lite or something with it, but I just used the packet provided. What was worst for me, and I didn't even think of it before was the various pain I was in from sitting there so long. I could hardly walk afterward. I know now to take some pain pills before and let them go to work. I also took the advice I read somewhere to cut out meat and things from the diet about 5-7 days before. I ate a lot of Rice Crispies and stuff to be on the lighter end and FWIW they said I did an excellent job of prep for the procedure. They wanted me back in 3 years. Other things that were suggested, comfy toilet paper and Vaseline. Big mistake: Aloe Vera gel. WHEW, never again! And having the computer there to distract me was helpful. I also started a little early with the prep and next time might start a little earlier yet. Not that I want to prolong it but when I got to the point of gagging on the stuff, I could take a little break, drink a little water and move on. (Was that a pun?)
