You must have some void space beneath the poking device for it to go into, as well as, have the jug, bottle, whatever supported. I sometimes have visions of people trying to do this holding the container in their hands or on their laps and inadvertently giving themselves piercings. Really takes the fun out of it. Your "piercing board" is the perfect solution to avoid that problem. Sad that your hands are not what they should be. wow intolerant to beet sugar, and by the sounds of it, rather drastically intolerant. (is it anything like gluten intolerance? If so perhaps there are support groups our there that can help you figure out what is safe and what is not, as well as working to get companies to share the information on labels.) I'm intolerant of High Fructose Corn Syrup but it is only a mild intolerance. I don't think I'm likely to go to the hospital from consuming it, worst case is being doubled over with a horrible belly ach for a half an hour if I stupidly drink a can of soda on an empty stomach (or a big glass of Cool Aid or any other beverage high in that particular sweetener. As for the whole debate about cane v beet, I don't bake/cook/whatever enough to have much of an opinion about it. However, I did once try growing sweet sorghum. Didn't grow enough to try milling it or making it into syrup though and don't have the equipment to do so either. I understand processing sorghum (and probably cane too) is a pretty heavy task that can last several days even on a small scale.

If the origianl question is the forms of daylilies. I copied this directly from the AHS. Daylily blooms have a wide array of different forms. These include: Circular When viewed from the front of the bloom, the flower appears round. Segments tend to be short, wide, and stubby and generally overlap, giving a full appearance. Triangular When viewed from the front of the bloom, the flower segments form a triangle. The sepals generally recurve. Star When viewed from the front of the bloom, the flower segments tend to be long and pointed. There is space between the segments and the shape looks like a three-pointed or six-pointed star. Informal When viewed from the front of the bloom, the flower segments have no definable shape. Segment placement may be irregular, widely-spaced, or floppy. Ruffled When viewed from the front of the bloom, the flower segments have ruffles along the edges. Ruffles take many forms; they may be tightly crimped, laced, knobby, or wavy. Flat When viewed from the side of the bloom, the flowers are perfectly flat except for the concave throat. Recurved When viewed from the side of the bloom, the flower segments flare, but the ends of the segments roll or tuck under. Trumpet When viewed from the side of the bloom, the flower form resembles a true lily. Segments rise from the throat in an upward pattern with little flare. Spider This form has long defied definition, however the segments are much longer than their width. A 1991 ruling places flowers in the spider class if their segments have a length to width ratio of at least 4 to 1 (i.e., 4:1). Length is measured with the segment fully extended. Width measurement is taken as the flower grows naturally. Double This form has more than six segments. Double daylilies, like single daylilies, come in differing forms. For example: The extra segments may appear as a tuft in the middle of the flower. This if often referred to as a "peony-type" double. They may appear as a second layer of segments on top of the normal six, forming two blooms in one or a hose-in-hose effect (like some azaleas). Kaismom, I had the exact same path as you Pelligrino > Isi seltzer bottle > Penguin. Agreed the Isi bottle was a total waste, and as soon as I saw the Penguin I knew I had to have it! If you buy their soda flavors, buy small ones at first because they may or may not be to your liking. I didn't like them and I returned them all. But now it looks like they have better flavors and ingredients, like real sugar. But I like to make my own concoctions, with sugar syrup, ginger juice concentrate (just found that one!), frozen lemonade mix, mint leaves, etc. Yum. I like hearing recipes that others are using. Bobbbeig, (I like all the Bs, was tempted to add a few more...), I considered a setup like yours. Agreed it is far cheaper. In the end, once the Penguin came on the market, it was too easy to resist. Plus, I only go through a CO2 canister about every 6 months. But it's a good way to go if you are a high volume consumer of bubbly drinks.
