Learn to wash your hair correctly. I take out half of new shampoo and put it in another bottle. The fill them both up with water. The NEXT day wash your hair only with a bit of conditioner. Because your hair isn't dirty. Then the next day again the diluted shampoo. Like WEN shampoo that is on television all the time, he will tell you it doesn't suds up ;) Then once a week put cheap Mayo on your hair. If hair is very dry or over colored use olive oil at the end of each day for 3 days. Always put on a plastic bag to bundle it up it up then aluminum foil tightly over that to heat your hair. It doesn't matter which - olive oil (for real dry hair), coconut oil or mayo you use you should keep it on for 2 hours or over night. Whatever time you have. When you wash it out follow this rule. Put the undiluted shampoo or diluted on your hair and let it cut the grease. If you put water on first you will never get it out. Then add water. Do you feel it is still there? Sorry, party-pooper here. I also have noticed thinning hair, but because of the side effects would not use rogaine type products. Vitamins biotin, B complex and c are great. Also gelatin and increased protein work without toxicity. Chisue, That might have been me who mentioned the fever since I suffered from hair loss after a fever a couple of years ago. I was sick again last week with about the same thing I had back in 2007 and as I was lying there sick as a dog, I kept thinking my damn hair better not fall out again! At least that is a temporary condition but gosh I was about to get a wig when it finally stopped falling out. I took a supplement that I believe helped my hair grow in a bit quicker - Ultra Nourish for Hair from GNC. It made my chin hairs grow faster too but I guess it was a trade-off. I also used a shampoo for hair loss that I picked up in the salon at Wal-Mart. I'm not sure if that helped. DH's grandmother got a hairpiece made and it looked great. I think if you are a suffering from a non-temporary loss of hair, that is the probably the best place to concentrate your efforts (on a nice wig or hairpiece).

I read that if you tug on the hairs that you have in any particular place on your head for 2 minutes tugging forward and backward it helps blood to get to the hair follicles which is increases thickening and growth. Maybe it dislodges or displaces testosterone receptors at least for men. I think women's thinning hair is from a different reason or hormone? Maybe I will try that for my scant eyebrows that I've always had. I used a whole bunch of things for hair growth inadvertently when I was seeking help for my migraines. I use MSM for my leg cramps and my hair is more plentiful. When I was taking a ton of flax oil which was one of the best things for my migraines my hair started growing much more. MSM makes it a bit thicker flax oil made it grow and Sprout like crazy but remain thin. I'll have to look into collagen. I'm glad to hear the Rogaine now works for older women. Best of luck :-).
