Who grows Garlic, which one is your favorite and...
Comments (15)Natal~ Creole varieties of garlic are more suited to warmer climates aren't they, I wouldn't mind trying one although I don't know how well they'd grow up here. That's quite a nice selection of tomatoes you grow, I just grow Celebrity, haven't found an heirloom, open pollinated, determinate variety to take it's place yet. I'm slowly switching over to all heirloom varieties so I can keep my own seed. Christine~ Cherokee Purple tomatoes sound yummy, DH thinks tomatoes don't taste like tomatoes unless they're red LOL but, if I find the seed I just might try a plant. Treelover~ I'm going to plant some lettuce today, I save seed from a Croatian lettuce given to me some years back, it is now our favorite lettuce, it will germinate, grow a smidge sit throughout the winter and produce beautiful lettuce for us in march, replant more seed to come a little later. I grew white spanish onions from seed one year, they were so mild and almost sweet, yummy. Nancy~ If you don't find a source for different garlics besides Salt Spring Seeds I found another mail order source in BC that has an extensive list of garlic varieties. Glenda~ Darn varmints, I was waiting for a report on how good you montreal melon tasted, they're supposed to be sooooo good. I think I'd be sitting guard with a shot gun, what a disappointment :o(. Betty~ Granny Cantrell tomatoes are they a determinate or indeterminate tomato? They sound delicious, another I'd like to try. Still looking for a good one to replace the Celebrity I grow, being a hybrid saving seed is out. Annette...See Moreif buying online...who do you trust to buy from, and...
Comments (19)Thanks- all good things for us to know when buying an expensive item. It is now ;Cyber Monday'= and I don't see any prices that are different from the last several weeks...maybe Cyber Monday is just a gimmick? I had a horrid experience with buying from Best Buy- in person....first, the salesperson walked away while I was actually asking questions about the computers- I floowed him through several isles to drag him back. He then said 'I'll be back in 3 minutes'....10 minutes later I found him standing up front talking with coworkers. I again ragged him back to the computer area. I bought the HP Mini. I did complain to the mgr, who gave me a $40 off the computor. 4 days later, when I returned the computer because it didn't work, the mgr only refunded $359, not $399...I guess all the crap I went through/got a sales price renigged because the product didn't work, and it was then ok to have such bad salespeople. I won't ever be buying from Best Buy. Now....where are the Cyber Day Sales????? owbist- I think it was you that said I was already ahead $40 online.....where, please?...See MoreQuestion for BARCO (and anyone who has StoneScapes)
Comments (18)Mine was that "am I going to regret plain white plaster" thread and I think some folks who had had both did say they were the same. Barco is right - Stonescapes is cheaper - PebbleTech would have cost an extra $1500. My PB told me it was essentially the same - the pebbles all come from the same factory, the main difference was that PebbleTech really police their installers, which I'm sure is why they have such a great reputation and so many thrilled custmers. However, the StonesScapes rep couldn't have been nicer and more concerned when I spoke to him. Unfortunately, his hands were tied, as to get him out to look at the pool, I first had to go through my PB company (the GM told me he'd been told by the pool start-up guy that I had the best plaster he'd ever seen!), then the plaster company (who came out without telling me and removed "a tiny little leaf" that was stuck in the plaster and was causing the rough spot I spoke about). I was pretty mad about it so the GM has agreed to meet me tomorrow with the StoneScape rep. I was worried that maybe I was being too much of a perfectionist, and I would get the same sneers, and looks of astonishment that I have had from the PB before when thing weren't right (and there have been many!). Anyway, if they say it's okay, I'll live with it. My pool is beautiful, and when the waterfall is running you can't see it anyway. Gina - I do think you are right about them wanting to do the right thing, and I'll certainly sing their praises every chance I get when this is resolved. Also, that is so great that PebbleTech fixed your spot and saved your water. I must remember to ask them to save mine too - I haven't even had the water bill for the fill-up yet and I certainly didn't want to do that again!...See MoreWho makes and/or carries the best porcelain tile?
Comments (17)Hi Corinne - this is one that looked interesting, Imola Ceramica ”Concrete Project”. You can usually track down a showroom instead of trying to analyze little samples in the mail. I did not see this one in person but if you are in NYC you may have better luck: https://www.imolaceramica.com/media/depliant/DP%20CONCRETE%20PROJECT.pdf take some time to travel to tile showrooms that have large sample boards or better, large samples installed on the floor. Look at the edges to make sure it’s not a photograph stuck on, and see that the edges are rectified, in case you want edges exposed (factory edge or bullnose). Let the sales people know you are not interested in simulacra. You’ll find something but it may take a while. We finally decided on a tile called “Gazzini Move” in beige, it’s porcelain/rectified and not trying to look like stone. It kinda/sorta has a surface texture like slate but not too offensive https://www.casaceramica.co.uk/range/gazzini-move/ It was one of the first tiles recommended for what I was asking for, but it still wasn’t as beautiful as real stone & I still looked for a long time before agreeing to it. It does not come in many shapes & sizes or trims or mosaics, but that was OK, we needed large format pieces that had to look good cut through and finished/bullnosed because we wanted to avoid metal trim edges. The tile store said they go through lots of Gazzini Move and always keep it in stock for the same reasons I was looking for....See Morecentralcacyclist
