Best 'wet look' shadow for lids of a certain age?.?...

I love the shimmery "wet" look of certain eyeshadows, but don't want anything that will make my lids look crepey.

I've found Mac has some decent cream shadows, but i'd like to find something more sheer.

Any suggestions? Has anyone tried the Rimmel shine shadows?

I find a mat cream shadow more flattering for most age groups; Guerlain has little pots of cream shadow that I love; they are pricey though and I'm certain they can be found in cheaper makes. Applied with a small flat brush, they are easy to work with and seem to not accentuate the effects of aging.....

I love a soft shimmery look too, especially when I'm going out for the evening. I have trouble finding creme shadows that don't end up in the creases of my eyelids though. I'm wondering if there is something that can be applied to the lids before a creme shadow that will stop the creasing? The foundation trick doesn't seem to work for me on anything other than powder shadows.

(Btw.. I need help from my fellow forumers. I've been a member for a while now, but didn't subcribe at first when the forum became pay-only. I can't remember if there is a way to go in and edit posts once they're posted? Thanks in advance for any advice given!)

I too am a pink lover. I have more pink roses than any other color and I still cant get enough of them. I got a gift certificate to David Austins for xmas last year and made a selection of 8 roses to buy. When I looked at my cart 7 out of the 8 were pink. LOL I'm not really into red roses, but I do have a few and I do like them. I'm really not a fan of dark roses at all (Munsted wood, etc) but its probably because those tend to turn black in my hot South Florida sun. Also I like to make a lot of bouquets with my roses and the dark ones always stick out like sore thumbs. I am, however, currently on an orange rose kick. I recently purchased Lady Emma Hamilton (which promptly died and I'm so sad about it, waiting till next season to get her again) and Pat Austin which I love (although the flowers blow quickly). This year I also got Fragrant Cloud, which I worried would look too dark and gaudy, but somehow has pink undertones that make it blend fabulously with my other roses. I'm loving my Lady Bird and Broadway and Papi Delbard and Easy Does It and when they bloom I make all apricot/orange bouquets matched with a few warm pinks and the effect is delightful. I'm all about the orange pink blends now. :) And I'm loving Gilbert Becaud above. But boy, I cant seem to find a seller!!!

I'm 54 and I feel old. It's my attitude and I know it's not a good one. I used to look a lot younger than my age. Ever since I went Hypothyroid I have noticed I'm aging a lot faster. I have an appointment with an eye doctor on Monday. Just in the last few months my upper lids have drooped. My eyes seem swollen and watery and they are always red. I'm hoping it's allergies but this just came about recently. It could be Thyroid. I saw Christie Brinkly on T.V. the other day. She is 55 and looks like she's 30. I try to keep a mental picture of her in my mind. Whenever I'm feeling old I think of her and tell myself, "If Christie can look young so can I". Yesterday I was shopping for a face primer in Sephora. A young salesgirl tells me, "here try this, my mom uses it and loves that it covers fine lines and wrinkles". That didn't help at all. Donna

New, weird cat behavior with wet food

I wonder if you will see this 5 years later. My cat who is 3yrs old has been doing the same exact thing as you mentioned. I googled it and found your post. Ironically it is also with Fancy Feast. Salmon and Shrimp... Her and her sister eat dry food maining but I give them FFeast here and there. She usually devours it but the last few times she meows for it, dives in to the plate, eats a little then darts away from the plate like something scared her. Then she runs around the house like she just ate a bag of cat nip dives into a box and starts to claw it to shreds. When I call to her and say it's ok, whats wrong she starts to lick herself and clams down. A few minutes later she will go back and finish it... She eats dry food with no issues so I dont think it's her teeth.. They are both indoor cats. It is almost like she gets wild because it's fish? Like a hunt feeling.. I read all of these comments and I will have her teeth checked. But wanting to ask if you ever determined the issue? Did it stop? Was it her teeth? I am going to try a different can of wet food, see if she does it with that as well. It was just very interesting that your story is so similar even down to the type and flavor of cat food...

I am getting close to 50 and the biggest change I've noticed is my feet. I keep them well moisturized and do my nails same as always, but the foot itself looks bonier and thinner-skinned and just old. My toes even look longer. I wear sandals 9 months a year so this is hitting me where it hurts. I have had good luck with my skin, which I attribute to wearing SPF 15 every day since age 24 and not smoking. I just started to get a line between my eyebrows this year, even though I am a big scowl-er due and squint-er due to poor vision. I do wish I paid more attention to my manicure, but I don't. I buff smooth every Sunday night and leave it at that unless I am going to a special event. I think updating eyeglasses and shoes is important for me to feel my best. I am hunting for new frames now and always on the lookout for comfy shoes that don't read "old". Some funky/casual styles that gals with smaller feet can get away with look like orthopedic shoes on my size 10s. Others' responses remind me that I need to drink more water and sweat sometimes. My DDs are makeup hobbyists and they really like TooFaced, but it hadn't occurred to me to try it. Hearing that the lipstick lasts may send me rummaging through their stashes--pale lips are my genetics and I hate them!

I think for "mature" skin matte is usually more flattering. The shine also highlights imperfections and looks better on youthful skin. This was my observation doing facials/makeup in the past.

Well shoot! mitchdesj, I could sit and preview my posts all day long, and then as soon as I post it I find a typo I missed. Why is it cute when someone else typos, but it's so annoying when I do it? LOL!

ocbird- My daughter has used the Rimmel shine shadows and they look very pretty on her. I haven't tried them myself yet. They do have some very pretty colors. :)

Sass, I think we all get used to the typos on thathomesite; over time, you hardly notice them....
At the cooking forum, the most memorable one was in the title of a thread, someone posted: puppy seeds instead of poppy seeds;
everyone still remembers that one.

Keeping eye shadow where you put it and avoiding creases--my daughter swears by Bobby Brown's base for eye make up. Says everyone asks how she keeps it from making lines or disappearing. I have used Eye Fix from Elizabeth Arden -- I like her Lip Fix too.
