Kev, we should have followed your example last Sunday. Instead, DH and I made the 2nd of 3 attempts to make the 13-hour drive South to visit my family. The 3 dogs and 2 cats that like to travel go w/ us, and it's usually loads of fun - yeah, we're crazy, I know. We went 55 miles on a major Interstate, saw about 20 cars off the road, and I made an executive decision to turn around. White out conditions, w/ the highway patrol saying roads were "extremely hazardous," and towing services were prohibited(!?). The 114 miles took us 3 hours, and Iowa's roads were reported to be just as bad. The day before, 2"-3" of snow were forecast in MN, Iowa, and Missouri, so we postponed the trip. Then Monday, Iowa's roads were still a mess. Christmas day, I flew down, leaving DH w/ the critters 'cause it was too late to board the dogs. Nice snow pix, Scott. Also the ponies. Friends in PA have the little ones, and we got to hold a brand new foal one time. I didn't notice - do they have puppy breath? Have fun running amuck in Palm Springs. Tuezday, growing up, I wanted to be a horse and broke an arm trying to roll on a barrel the way they do. We were city kids, and all my allowance $$ went to a riding stable. Later, my sisters and I got to take riding lessons from a guy who'd trained horses for the Cavalry and had a high school act. Heaven. Whitecat8

Thank you for the lesson on soap and water, cynic. I assure you I do bathe regularly with both and still like to use deodorant. The purpose of my post was to give an alternative to the many people who think that anti-perspirants are unhealthy. I get that most people aren't interested but there are some who are. Clogging up one of the body's major detoxification points in order to smell powder fresh all day is certainly a popular choice but there are alternatives out there. This combination is working beautifully for me. I have absolutely no smell at all since I put it on this morning, with no rash or irritation. And while I agree that sometimes people can't smell themselves, I definitely can because that's how I knew that other ones I previously tried over the last few weeks didn't work, lol. Between that, and brutally honest friends, I am assured that what I've found works for me. In the end, it's up to everyone to make their own decisions. I try not to use anything on my body that I couldn't eat if I wanted to because that's what I feel is the healthiest way to live. And yes, I am a worrywort. Have you seen the recent cancer statistics? Something like 1 in 3 will be diagnosed in their lifetime, and it's rising all the time. I'm doing everything I can to avoid it. The body has an amazing ability to detoxify and heal if only we let it and not clog it up with chemicals and preservatives and parabens and toxins and all the other crap in conventional beauty products.

Anyone who publicly bashes someone over something like their appearance, should set the example and show us what real beauty is. Lots of posters here have gotten plastic surgery and a lot have never had it, so the invitation was extended to those with or without expensive cosmetic updates. It's a shame Marlo had to change her look in order to launch an acting career. There was not a demand for those with strong ethnic or exotic looks back in the 1950s. Danny Kaye had to bleach his hair so that he did not look so Jewish. Goldwyn wanted Danny to alter his looks with rhinoplasty. When Danny refused, Goldwyn demanded that Danny bleach his hair to blond, which he did. Such a shame. Glad all that has changed.
