Hi leafy. I have bunions and a slight beginning of enlarged joints on my second toes with the accompanying "hammertoe" trying to begin. I have inherited most of this complex of problems from my Mom's side of the family. It is called Morton's syndrome, in my case. The pulling of the tendon's and ligaments in your foot are what cause the humping that you are concerned about. The only treatment for this is a very good custom orthotic to support your arch and prevent the foot from rolling slightly inward ( pronation) which pulls the tendons out of line . Also the orthotic will address the metatarsal area ( the soft area beneath your 2nd and 3rd toes) and you will get a pad behind that area to support the forefoot. Nothing that you put between your toes will stop the progression of the disorder. You can get individual soft gel cushions to wear when you have on shoes to prevent the toes pressing into each other, if that is a problem . I have them for my toes. The "yoga" toes do absolutely nothing to correct or delay the problem you speak of. You can do exercises to strengthen you feet, place a towel on the floor and put your foot on it and then wrinkle the towel toward you by bending the toes into the towel and pulling it toward you. You can also sit with your feet out in front of you and concentrate on stretching all of your toes out and away from each other ....like a cat does its paws. There isn't anything passive other than the orthotics which will correct/slow the progression of this problem. My Mom had surgery a total of 3 times on her feet. Always they returned to the dysfunctional position. One has to correct the arch and strengthen the tendons with exercise and orthotics. No surgery or passive between the toes pads will correct it. Hope this helps you. I worry about my feet all the time and have just gotten the final pair of new orthotics that I was fitted for in May ! They are really working but it has been an arduous process. I am fortunate to have excellent BCBS and they have covered it , after deductible. I am going to get a 2nd pair made so that these will last longer. Phoggie Yes, I have had MRIs of back and hips thru and down leg. I have two dud hips too which came from something else. The report is specific. But, my intern referred me to an Ortho doctor who didn't explain much and put me into PT telling me there was hope to get rid of sciatica. He didn't ask me to come back. I have 4 levels of femoral stenosis and herniated discs and massive arthritis. I need my very nice intern to talk to me after 2 more rounds of PT which is not much different that my at home stuff. You spoke of not wanting surgery but you sure ended up with a lot misery to get to your recovery from all that surgery. What an awful ordeal and I will not forget your pain. He had voluntary hip and knee replacements in his late 70s so he could run.. It was Youth Part II for him. He lived near my brother and managed to get it done without him knowing for a year. He knew which kid to tell as my brother would have stopped him and was furious when he found out. I thought it was horrible how he yelled at my dad. It was none of his business. Sporty Jack did well from it but there is always something. Now, my brother is daddy's age then and has forgotten most likely how he treated his father. I received my JJill order and I'm not keeping any of it. Both sundresses had such a nice fabric but the fit was strange on me. I am chesty and carry my weight on the top. The medium fit well in the bust but the bottom just looked too big. I ordered the two linen shirts and the silk shirt in regular rather than petite. A total fail. They must increase not just sleeve and hem length but also the body because all three looked humungo on me. The capri leggings were awful. They fit well in the legs but the crotch was a baggy wrinkled mess. The quality was very good on everything except the leggings but I expected them to not be great. Everything is going back but I will get to a physical location where I can actually try the items on because I thought the quality was good considering the prices. ETA: Marlene, I really like the linen tunic. I will definitely try it on when I get to a physical store. I always love the way a linen piece adds a classy look to an outfit.

I had a similar situation when I was a young bride. We had just bought our first house and I met one of the neighbors shortly thereafter. She was younger by six years but very nice. Strangely we had the same name. As time went by she copied so many of my ways, bought the same car, painted the house the same, wore similar clothing. When we put in a driveway, they did the following week. My husband made a front door for me out of old wood and I made a stained glass window with lead around it in clear antique glass, I carved the door knob for it and we still have that door. It was charming and went to each home we owned. Didn't she hire someone to duplicate my door. All the while we were friends and she had shared some of her unhappy life which she definitely had experienced. I tried to never react to her copying as I knew she was fragile. I went on to open a hair salon while I was at my art studio two days a week and working for four days. She then decided to go to hair dressing school, still said nothing. I had a Russian blue cat I named Sooty as they are grey. She bought one and named it Pooty.!!!! I am not kidding, still I stayed calm but, when she finished her course at hair dressing and got her license, she started coming to the salon daily and staying all day. Then I started to get annoyed, after one month of showing up daily I asked if she'd like to meet me for coffee. We met and I explained that the clientele and the people working for me felt awkward with someone watching them every day. She put her cup down, got up and left, and never spoke to me again. She died at age 50 from a brain tumor. She had left her abusive husband, went off with a woman, cut off all relationships from her children and mother. I felt so sad about all this but her Mom was a friend to me by now and explained the background. The father had committed suicide as well as her aunt and two brothers. Then I understood she couldn't help herself. I still pray for her family.
