To Many Highlights in my Hair

Posted by gagesgranny (My Page) on

A good friend of mine highlighted my hair. She is a hair dresser. She has done it before and I liked it but this time, she applied too many highlights. (My fault, I ask for more but not this much). Can I go back through with haircolor and put more dark streaks through my hair? I am just too embarrassed to ask her to do this for me and I am pretty good with hair color. What do you suggest? Thanks

Please don't try to do this yourself -- it's too difficult and you are likely to end up with unpleasant results.

Let your friend put in some "lowlights" in a darker color to tone it down. If she's your friend she should understand.

Ditto, Petaloid. Don't do this yourself unless you have 4 hands and eyes in the back of your head.

Petaloid gives good advice! My daughter is a hairdresser. Lowlights will balance off if your hair looks too light or obviously fake.
