Hairpieces! Who wears one? I LOVE mine!!!

A friend of mine called me one day a few months ago to ask me to accompany her to "make a decision"...a surprise she needed a vote of confidence on.

Turns out, we met at a salon where she was thinking about a hairpiece to boost her thin hair. I gave her thumbs up on the investment.

She and I both have thin hair, and she thought I might be interested in the idea too. I watched the store owner cut it and style it for her. She's looking great.

So the other day, I was parked in my car putting on lipstick. I caught my reflection in the visor mirror. I could see the curvature of my scalp through my thin hair, and I knew "it was time". So, on a whim, I dropped everything and drove to that salon. Turns out, it was a quiet time, and the owner remembered me from accompanying my friend. It was meant to be, if you know what I mean.

She really went into my preferences, needs, and well, I've got a lovely, short hairpiece that really gives oomph to my thinning bangs, and my flat, sparse crown.

I wore it to work immediately! I have many customers and all thought I just got a new cut and color that looks fantastic...a few comments "you look great!". My own DH wondered what I had done. Took me til the next day to tell him the truth!!! And he likes it very much.

It's comfy, lightweight, and I LOVE just throwing it on and looking like a million bucks !!! No more bad hair days for me!!!!

I have several cancer surviving friends who have used wigs, but my, my, how the whole hairpiece market has changed, and the quality and the light feel...not like my Mother's wigs of old!

So, who sports a hairpiece??? And what made you get one?

Congrats! You sound so very happy! :)

I want one, but I can't afford it. My stylist custom makes them, and they are sooooo fabulous! He let me try on a sample, and while the color was horrible, I loved the look. I looked like I used to.

Nowadays regular wigs or weave are completely old-fashion and outdated!The new insider tip is called full lace wigs. Everyone from Beyonce, to Tyra Banks, to Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Lopez ,to name a few, wears those full lace wigs.
What is a full lace wig?
It is a wig, which entire cap is made out of a mesh like lace. Into this lace cap, individual
hairs are then hand-tied, and so, create the most realistic looking and feeling hair possible.
The lace around the perimeter of the full lace wig is trimmed to match the hairline after purchase, so that the full lace wig looks more realistic.
When properly attached with the special adhesives or tape for full lace wigs, the hairline can be so realistic as to be virtually undetectable to sight and touch. It will look like the wearer of the full lace wigÂs own hair growing out of the own scalp

Zappo's also has Dansko's lots of the nicer shoe stores carry them or track and trail type stores. I am going on the Nordstroms website and see if they have Earth shoes. I know I will end up with Dansko's I love them.

I have three pair and love them. The two strap style comes in the largest range of colors...I have a light brown leather pair and am going to get a red pair. I also have a white thong style that I love and some clogs with a strap. I wear those all winter long with socks. Birkies require a break in period....sort of like getting used to contact lenses. Not only can they be stiff at first, your feet might need some time to adjust. My feet complain after a while with some shoes.....not so with my birkies.

LOL ...HoustonMom...Are these the types of friends where you can simply invite yourself to the party? ...RedCurls...You're correct. Never wear white or ivory (or whatever color the bride is wearing) to a wedding, even in these days where the "rule" is "no rules." I like rules/guidelines. ...Kat WA...Yes, I'm wearing all the appropriate underpinnings; I just didn't want to advertise them to the world. LOL I found a lovely full-length slip with no lace of any kind on it to shadow through. It's peach, and more of dress liner than a slip. I could (if I were really buying all these items) simply hem it to be 3/4-inch shorter than the dress. No shadows at all. Seamed stocking are great, but I've never been able to keep the lines straight. (In my dreams I'm more of a fishnets kinda girl! LOL) I'm going with plain stockings. ...Sylvia...and DotMom...I'm in no danger of doing that, LOL. I just want to be appropriate for the occassion. ...Kacee...I'd love a hat, too, but I'm thinking with my full round face and short, full neck, and the fluffy wide neckline on the dress, a hat just might to "too" much. I love hats; when I was thinner I wore them a lot. ...Liz GA...You know you're going to have to bootleg all those copies. And after things settle down we can talk "Old Country Roses." By carefull searching, I've almost completed my set with all the older, still made-in-England pieces. I love, love, love this pattern.

I did buy one label. My BF in junior high and I went to Mervyn's so we could buy genuine Sonny and Cher labeled outfits. I bought the pants in the picture. But was a petite little hard belly and I rocked them with the mating halter style tummy tickler they came with. The low cut hip hugger pants and top were bright yellow daisy print. The eyelet was white with a bright hot pink/fuchsia velvet ribbon at the knee. The top had the same eyelet at the bottom with the ribbon. Wish I still had the outfit . It would be worth something today. My friend bought a more conservative outfit in turquoise. It was in a poorboy (vertical ribs) knit with large bells and a babydoll top. The pic is not me. I was a lot smaller than that girl. I just found the pic on the net to show the pants.

My daughter (the professional beautician) says "everybody" should get extensions. They cost $600 and up at the place where she works. Some days I'm lucky I even brush my hair.
