I think my lawn suffers from hard soil too. I dormant-seeded last fall. Will this shampoo application have any negative effect on the new grass seed, which has not germinated yet? Thanks!

She must have had some real problems to have these types of limitations on a revision. There must be more to it than a simple revision. Good luck to her. Hope she has a speedy recovery. One thing about being limited in mobility is a simple face washing and hair cleaning is tremendously refreshing. Sponge baths have been used in hospitals for a long, long time. A dry "shampoo" is not required, just don't be messy with the water. Ravencajun gave a good option that works well and this has been used a lot of times on people I know and on me. A wet, but not dripping washcloth of water to dampen the hair, a dab of easy and clean rinsing shampoo on the washcloth (or another) to work it in, then start the "rinse" with a couple wet washcloths or rinse them as you go. Just put a towel to catch drips and you won't have the powder mess of dry and it'll be much cleaner. Just don't use too much shampoo. A lot of shampoo is not needed. A person who isn't working up a sweat isn't going to get their hair as dirty as most. Then for additional refreshment, even a couple times a day just a wet washcloth through the hair will keep it surprisingly clean and only mess with the shampoo every few days, or even longer. Actually even if there is a little residual shampoo on the hair, that's not a big problem for most people. Then a later wash with just a wet washcloth will take it out and give it another washing. Her limitations are highly unusual. Everyone I've known who has had joint replacement or revisions can't take a bath (no immersing) but can shower since the incision is covered. They're instructed not to run the water directly against the bandage area. And most everyone I've talked to now has the incisions glued rather than stitches so that keeps it dry too. One guy I know has had 2 replacements and 2 revisions and will be having another. He has bone deterioration. He just had the normal restrictions. Just out of curiosity, what happened to cause such problems for your sister?

Actually they now tell you not to do the vinegar we were told to do by our mothers. What I use is this shampoo ordered from hair dresser and you only use very little on your hair and only once too and no conditioner which isn't good. Instead I use sometimes dove the shake and squirt white stuff and just a bit on my hair to give it some bounce to it or this other dry conditioner but again not all the time. Don't use Pantene shampoo they are still going on how bad it is and now its saying it burns you. More and more are making homemade items like that plus soap and detergents. They are pouring chemicals in our bodies and air, they tell you on tv to use lots of this and that and people do, no, you use very little of anything and it works just as well I find. And the costs are unreal too. Too many are fanatical in cleaning their houses and the chemicals that everyone and pets that live in it are getting too much bad stuff in them and the pets are on carpets and such and there they breath in the chemicals. Our world has too many health issues that shouldn't be but are and pets too due to our terrible environment.

If you are going to spend money redoing your floors, you would be better served to put that investment toward hard floors and get rid of that carpet. There is nothing that is every going to make those carpets clean. It is not the nature of a piece of napped fabric, that is on the receiving end of every bit of dirt and debris in the house, to ever be clean. It will always harbor loose dirt, stains, and very small critters and will forever release lint and dust into your environment, and forever remain very high maintenance requiring expensive machines and a lot of your time to keep it livable. Think about it---would you throw a piece of fabric on the floor and walk over it for years and expect it to be clean? You will be amazed at how much cleaner your house will be without that constant source of dirtiness. Even the air will seem to flow easier. Have there been animals in the house? Those stains will never come out.
