Cool Water Rinse = Shiny Hair?
Comments (4)Also, there are conditioners that you can buy that add shine to your hair. I can't recommend one because I already have very straight hair and don't use them, but I have seen them. Ask your hairdresser for a good shine product. When I used to color my hair, I got a treatment called "cellophane" that made my hair shinier since it was damaged. This was back in the early '90s, so I don't know if they still do this, but there has to be some newer treatment you can get....See MoreAny one use Fanci full rinse
Comments (12)Thanks for all the responses. The last time I did anything to my hair was EONS ago. My DD talked me into doing a semi permanent color a tiny bit of strawberry blonde onto my dirty blonde. My dh was away on business and she assured me that it would wash out in a day or two. Yeah right! I looked like Carrot-top! I must of washed my hair every hour. No help, though it did take the 'brassiness' away. LOL! That was in a green and tan box. They still make it, I'm not sure what the brand is. Umm, Natural Instincts? So if you don't dye your hair will the fanci ful make the gray look a tad darker than gray? The ad I saw says "Enriches color & adds shine Gently blends gray away No ammonia, No peroxide" This is called a temporary hair color . The ad says " Rinses my gray away, right away. I just blend in the color and in a matter of minutes I look and feel instanly younger. It's gentle enough to use every day' and when I'm ready, it shampoos out" Patti -I am worried about the sweating brown thing ! I thought I would just buy a shade of one what they call the gold category. If it 'disguises' the gray .......See MoreFabric Softner vs white vinegar in rinse help
Comments (17)Vinegar works in two ways with regards to laundry: Vinegar dissolves minerals. If you have hard water that is combining with detergent and leaving a residue on the clothes, the vinegar will dissolve the minerals in the water, stopping the deposit of residue. Vinegar neutralizes the alkalinity of wash water. This makes clothing feel more pleasant to the skin. There is nothing inherently "softening" about vinegar, and the fact that I have a whole house water softener probably explains why I get no benefit from vinegar. Those with hardness in their water will benefit the most. I also read in another thread that Miele recommends against using vinegar, as it may damage vital rubber components in the machine. Senseo, a large manufacturer of coffee makers, also says that vinegar can damage its machines and recommends use of citric acid instead. The concern stems from the fact that acetic acid (vinegar) is a mineral-based acid, and as such is damaging to some rubber and plastic components. Citric acid would be a better product to use in the rinse, and citric acid also has the added benefit of "smoothing" fabric fibers which is something vinegar doesn't do....See Morelather, rinse, repeat
Comments (45)Very interesting thread! I have relatively thick, straighter than straight hair. On one half of my head that is. The other side likes to do a little flip thing just to annoy me. And to make matters worse I have a huge ridiculous cawlick that runs down the back of my scalp and when my hair goes flat, the cawlick parts like the Red Sea. I find that the more conditioners that are in shampoo's the flatter my hair is. If I use conditioner after I shampoo my hair is horribly limp. THEN it gets all dry and brittle and even more flat. THEN I buy more expensive shampoo's and conditioners to try to fix it only get battered hair. So, I stopped with the expensive shampoo's and started using dish detergent - not all the time but at least once a week. Then apply a little conditioner and my hair is great. When I shampoo with regular shampoo, I will use a vinegar rinse and NO conditioner at all. The dish detergent (usually Sunlight) gets out all the hair products and conditioners that weigh the hair down. My hair has never been healthier-looking (for dead cells lol) and I colour my hair - myself. Hair salon dyes have too much conditioner. I don't use shampoo for colour treated hair just ol Sunlight and regular conditioner and my colour doesn't fade. My hair stylist are always commenting on what good shape my hair is in and when I tell them what I use - they stop with the sales pitches on their products. LOL I've recently started using Sunsilk Anti-flat shampoo and conditioner and I like it. It is weightless and very mild and my hair does seem to be fluffier longer when I use it. deb ab, I've often wondered about those got2be products. I need something that won't flatten. I use the worse products - Final Net hair spray. My hair is short and spikey (perfect style for straight hair) but I have a hard time finding products that will make the spikes last longer and not flatten. I envy people with curly hair! I have a hard time getting a good hair cut and am always looking for someone who specializes in straight hair. One little slip up when cutting straight hair and it is so noticeably. That's why I got the spikes - so you can't notice if it is slightly off kilter. Who knew I'd have so much to say about hair? lol BJ...See Moresowngrow (8a)
