Permanent Eye Makeup

Well, here I sit, with permanent eyeliner. Finally got it about a month ago. I am very, very happy with it. I only got upper lid liner, in a grey shade, and I really, really am happy with it. It looks very natural...I can wash my face in the morning, put on lip gloss (I got permanent lip color a year ago), and I'm good to go. If I'd had to choose one, I'd have gotten the eyeliner first. But I have to say they process of numbing my eyelids was creepy to the max. I got novocaine beforehand, but was very aware that they were shooting novocaine into my eyelids. I am very happy with the results.

that's good to hear; although in my area, permanent makeup is not popular, I'm still looking for a place that does it. I would love permanent eye liner.

Cool. My girlfriend did eyes and lips a while back - she couldn't be happier. She's retired and travels a lot. So a quick get-up-and-go is important for her. I'm kind of a chicken about things like this though. Maybe someday I'll get up the nerve!

I had permanent lip color and upper eye liner done earlier this year. The person recommended did work on 2 of my friends. Actually, there are 4 people in this skin care group who do this work. The woman who did my makeup showed me several photos of lips and eyes she had done, both from right after the procedures when you look a little scary and weeks later when everything looked as it should. She also showed me before and after photos of retouches she had done on people who had had poor work done elsewhere. I absolutely love what I had done...upper lid liner in a dark grey color and lip color that matches my favorite Estee Lauder shade. I read somewhere that lower liner is aging, and although I wear lower liner, I pencil it in. I think the best advice is to find someone experiences who is willing to give references and show photos of work. The other important thing is that one of the estheticians is an RN, so she can do the aesthetic. One place I called was much cheaper, but they told me that I had to draw in my own lipline and then go to a dentist down the street who for $20 would give me a dental block. If I were that good at doing liplining, I wouldn't have opted for this procedure! The anesthetic only hurts for a little bit, like when you have dentistry, but let me tell you, the idea of needles in my eyelids was majorly creepy. My mouth was swollen, sore and very dry for several days after, but my eyes felt and looked OK later in the day I had it done. This is not for the timid, but for me it was well worth the cost and discomfort. When I getup in the morning and wash my face, I look OK in the mirror, not a washed out, ghostly version of myself.

Jasdip Not an eyewash in the sense that you would flush your eyes with it. I should have said eyelid scrub. The procedure is to dilute a few drops of Baby Shampoo with warm water and do a light scrub of the inner rim of the eye with a cotton swap or pad. I found it got rid of all make-up residue so I just wet my fingertips and use a few drops of baby shampoo for removing my make-up just as you would any water soluble eye makeup remover. The link explains it if you scroll down to the bottom of the page and read the self care procedure. You are correct about oils around the eye. I would think that if eye makeup is always flaking and smudging, that you are probably starting with an eye that isn't ready for makeup. Maybe you have some oil or moisturizer on your face. You should first put a setting powder on your eye to make sure it's not oily. I always start with a concealer above and below my eye and then set it with translucent loose powder, then I apply the eyeshadow, the liner and then mascara. I never have any flaking or smudging at all.

The results are in.... I used the under eye patches this morning and I have a mixed review. Alright, my under eye bags are exactly the same as they were pre-patches. So that is a disappointment. I have allergies and a string of autoimmune challenges, so I guess my eye bags are not going to budge. Not for these patches and certainly not for the various eye creams I've tried over the years. These are my bags it appears and I'd better learn to wear them proudly. On to the good part...the crows feet filled in so well it's amazing. The crinkly skin under the eyes also 'ironed' out. Bags are there, but crinkles smoothed over. I give these patches a thumbs up just for that. I'm going to try using a patch upside down on my upper lip, maybe tomorrow and see if it can fill in the lines from talking, eating, drinking and being alive that one gets there. That would be great if it did! On to the elevens some of us get between the brows, I think that if you cut a patch and stick it there, it might help with that if the grooves are not too deep (If cutting the patch doesn't ruin it of course). My elevens come and go--it all depends on how much the people in my life are pushing their limits with me. The more they misbehave consistently, I get elevens. If everyone is behaving themselves, my elevens fade down. The patches were comfortable to wear and did not irritate my cranky eyes anymore then they already are. I suspect it's not adhesive that keeps them in place because even band-aids give me a month long instant rash. I think it's the serum the patches are bathed in and the consistency of the patches themselves. Seems they will stick to just about anything due to that. There you go. I would use them again, but with expectations that my bags will not change for the better.

I'm happy for you that it turned out perfect.

I would be afraid that the artist wouldn't do what I wanted and since the results are permanant, I would be suicidal if I had to live with goofy looking eyes for the rest of my life.

Actually, I had 2 friends who did this before me, so I felt fairly confident with the person who did it. She also showed me pictures of eye makeup done by other people that she had to fix. I am scheduled for a touchup next week on my eyes, but I'm canceling because I don't need it. I had to get my lips re=touched a few months after the initial coloring. I'm SO glad that I got away with no re-doing of my eyes. It wasn't painful, but a fairly creepy situation. It is nice to get up in the AM. wash my face and not look so much like a washed out version of my regular self.

I am 58 years old and want to get my eyebrows done. In Octoaber I am having my eyelids lifted so don't want to get the eyebrows done until that is over with.

Has anyone had their eyebrows done, just want to fill in the bare spots that have occurred with over plucking.

Actually, one of the friends who had her lips and eyeliner done, also had her brows filled in, again caused by age and overplucking, It looks wonderful and very natural on her. Actually, I have started using eyebrow pencil for the first time in my life. The ends of my eyebrows are starting to fade to nothing, and the worst part is to find a matching eye pencil. I find that many women who use eyebrow pencil use it very obviously, mostly because the color they pick doesn't match the eyebrow.

Sudie, try using an eyeshadow and a stiff, blunt brush to shade your eyebrows. Very natural looking.
