As a person who owned a salon, let me say that it's very easy to remove. Wash the front of your hair with a liquid dishwashing soap. Leave it on for 15 minutes and then rinse. You'd be better served if you used a lighter shade. Coloring your own hair is tricky as it looks so easy on t.v. You have two choices use a semi permanent tint or use a permanent tint. The first fades off with washing and the second stays until you need a touchup. It's not a good idea to touch up just one area of the head as it's almost impossible to choose a color that is an accurate match to the rest of your hair. In the salons we use several colors plus grey magic which is a small bottle of a medium that helps to keep the color on the gray. Next time buy a neutral medium brown shade, I say neutral so you won't have any green or gold caste to your hair. If you like a warm tone use it. I wouldn't suggest using a cool tone on any of the brown choices. If worse comes to worse and you can't get it out, sprinkle some talc or baby powder in your dark area and brush it through. Works like a charm.

I would stay away from trying to achieve this yourself. It matters what color your hair is as well as the texture, tenacity, and porosity. Toners are sometimes used (separate process) to correct the finished color. Brassy hair can be corrected by applying a blue, violet, etc. toner. Hair color has levels that range from dark to light and youâÂÂre removing levels of melanin (the pigments in your hair) as you go. All professional coloring systems have their own set of âÂÂrulesâ for formulating their color line to get the desired results you need. All come with swatches and thereâÂÂs a process of figuring out what needs to be done. Ordering professional products online (tubes of color and developer) without having the rest of the information is about as much of a guess as buying box color, IMO. Also, depending on if bleach is used, if the person is slow or doing a lot of foils, etc. (I know you didnâÂÂt mention foils) the product should actually be mixed in different batches (with different formulations) for sections so that the bleach processes evenly and is finished at the same time. sleeperblues, very pretty, sleeper! And yep, your hair looks recently cut... it's so healthy looking. You already have a reddish-gold natural highlighting going on, I'd go for something less bold then penny suggests (but that's just me nowadays, I used to have 1/2" short hair back in the punk days), and perhaps have some gold or lighter reddish highlights put in? You could start with something subdued, and always add more or go lighter. Nice thing about highlights rather than overall color... you can let it grow out longer without looking like it needs to be 'done' again! ETA: penny, your friend's hair is great! I did that (with blonde) for a while but my hair was longer. I thought it'd look odd with red, but it made my red look darker and so wasn't strange looking... or I didn't think it was ; )

I think your hair looks nice, Debby. I have very thick hair....and that has a downside too. It is extremely hot and grows very fast. I am outside most of the day, and it is so hot, and if I wear a hat, it is unbearable. I don't color it....I did once, and it was a mess because my hair is very white around my face. I also started greying in my 20's. My dad and one brother had snow white hair. The rest of us had grey hair but not the entirely white hair. About every two months, I get my hair cut short. I should go every month, but I hate taking the time to do it. It gets very bushy very quickly, and I let it go until I can't stand it any more. I don't use any conditioners or anything on it. I haven't ever blown it dry, and I don't want it styled. Just cut it and let me out of there. This is me, needing a haircut. (I'm the one on the left. That is my mule, Sabrina, on the right.)
