Question about Hair Removers - Epilators

Just wondering what peoples experiences have been with epilators like Epilady and the like. I was just browsing folica.com and noticed a lot of different brands. Really interested in these as they seem easier than waxing but as effective. Any opinions?

I have been using Epilady for years; combined with regular waxing..... In the summer, if I don't have time to let the growth come in for waxing, I clean up with epilady. It can be painful on coarse hair because it pulls the root of the hair, my leg hair is soft and weak because I've been having it waxed for the longest time.

Has anyone waxed under their arms? I do my legs and bikini but have been to chicken to try my underarms. Is it worse then say, legs?

Two of us spent almost 3 hours yesterday cutting multiflora canes then painting them with RoundUp. We are probably only a third of the way done in getting to everything I'd like to remove. A handful of the bushes deep in the fence line had canes 3"-4" in diameter so we had to use a hand saw instead of lopers for those. We probably cut down 40-50 bushes and maybe all but one or two were diseased. I'm afraid there wouldn't be enough WiltPruf in the state of TN to supply all I would need for this job! ;-) Nor would I want to spray (or pay for!) that much RoundUp. The best news is that the acre or so I did last year with this method still looks free of multiflora. Even without spraying to entrap the mites I'm thinking I'm better off than just leaving it all growing. I've got my helper coming back in a few days for another round. I'll try to get some pictures to post. Thank you everybody!

Best way to remove armpit hair?

I did one laser treatment years ago. It seemed to reduce the amount of hair for a few years. The treament caused some blockage of pores that required a antiobiotic I think to clear up (? long time ago) and made the skin look brown and saggy for awhile. Years later its all like it used to be. I recently had chin treatments - 2 with no clear affect. The place now says it takes 6-8 treatments to be "done" when they used to advertise 3 treatments. I think the jury is still out on laser treatments although I think for underarm's its probably the best way if it works. Oh yes, the beginning of the treatment feels like little zaps, by the end it hurts quite a bit. Think of someone getting you with a rubberband. One or two does not hurt to bad, now think of that for 1/2 hour. that's sort of what its like. Mary

I don't have a preference since I am not a hairy man. But I think if I were and didn't want back hair I would opt for going and having it waxed. Seems like the back would not be too painful an area to control by that method. Don't know about the chest and tummy. Maybe just shaping via razor unless you want the completely hairless look. I don't think men need to get into the Hollywood look anymore than women do. Better to look for a partner that accepts you as you as well as loving yourself the way you are. Good grooming,yes. Trim and groom the forest. Following fashion that wants everyone to change what nature gave them, no. Saw a thing somewhere where women are now giving their girl parts facials. Ridiculous.

I'm reviving this thread because I still haven't done anything about the peach fuzz and hesitate to. Yeah, I'm a 60-yr-old wimp. My question is, how far up my face to remove? I mean, I even have a wee bit on my nose, but not so much under my eyes. I'm just nervous about doing it. I don't think it's noticeable unless you're really close up, and I need to peer into the mirror to really see where it tapers off.

I have course underarm hair, I have to exfoliate before I shave and even then there is still a shadow, almost like you can see the hair folicles underneath...

Waxing armpits is a nightmare, its super painful, doesn't get all the hair cause they grow in many directions there. It gets really irritated there and usually some bleeding when the hair is pretty stubborn and has to be ripped out. I've been to many different salons to get armpits waxed and its always the same. The absolute worst is the more classy salons when they see that the wax didn't get all the hair they start plucking at you ... even if you're in tears, swollen and sore. They think they are doing you a favor ... I like the hole in the wall places where they don't look at you like your crazy if you say don't pluck me!

I have no prob with arms or legs, in fact, legs is least painful.

Yikes, I don't think I'll be waxing my underarms anytime soon!

I agree legs are least painful. Bikini is no barrel of monkeys however.

all that, so you can get ingrowns two weeks later?

thank you all for reminding my why I stopped fighting my mammalian nature.

I might shave once in a while, and I pluck the10 stray hairs that mess with the line of my brows-

but the idea of pulling my hair out on a regular basis gives me the willies.
