I bought it at a beauty supply store. I am not sure why it works, but it is steam that heats up the foam rollers and then the plastic covering seems to hold the roller and the steam in til it is cool. Because my hair is so straight, the cover holds the hair in place and firmly around the foam roller and prevents the hair from unrolling. I did try it the next day, and yep, it still works.

My nieces have curly hair. One has thick hair and the other is not so thick but both of them swear by Aveda curl creme. They also have other curl products. I went to a curl specialist with one of them and this women spent a lot of time explaining how to care for curly hair so that you have those lovely ringlets and not frizz. Here is a summary. Nice ringlets minus frizz is when you can get hair to clump in ribbons. - Banish hair brush. Never ever. - Only use wide tooth comb - Wash hair thoughly, condition and rinse hair. Part as you would and use wide tooth comb to comb through. This creates the first creation of "ribbon" as the wet hair will have a tendency to stick together and dry together. - Pat hair dry very gently. She actually recommended paper towels or microfiber. The point to not disturb the ringlets. - Apply a curly hair product like Aveda curl creme mainly on the hair avoiding the scalp. Again comb through with wide tooth comb to separate into ribbons. - Let air dry. No hair dryer which will blow the ribbons apart. Use your finger to curl a ribbon of hair around, hold for a bit and leave, this will make springy ribbons. Keep doing this with sections of hair as long it takes to dry. - Refresh hair between shampoos by wetting, using a wide tooth comb to create ribbons and finger twirling as it airdries. I must say that their hair looked lovely and bouncy with curls. Very groomed and not frizzy but not so shiny or slick as it can with heavy products.

My friend and i used the foam rollers at the gym and they felt great! we were going to buy some for home, but then covid and we stopped going to the gym and forgot about the rollers . . . and exercise altogether! So thanks for the reminder, we were just talking about going back, and i think we will grt the rollers for home this time. Our trainer had a suggestion for what to get, half versus whole etc, but of course now we don’t remember. We liked the whole ones at the gym.

I also have frizzy hair and I live in hot/humid Florida. I bought something similar to this. It is a hot iron but has bristles which straighten and curl your hair at the same time. The one I bought was on QVC and is Calista. It comes in sizes depending on how long your hair is. I saw this one on Amazon and will order it because its a lot cheaper than the Calista and has a smaller barrel. I like it because it instantly straightens and I can get curls which look good. Unfortunately, if I spend any time outside, the humidity just makes it frizz again. I looked at Amazon but couldn't find the one I ordered, but there are so many. What I wanted was not a blow-curler but rather a hot iron with bristles. Take a look.
