Bev, thanks for the warning, lol... It smells of cloves, so I've been using it on my feet only, before I put on socks- I don't mind the smell but I would not want it on my upper body where the smell would hit me... One of the jars of Skin Milk cream I brought back smelled rancid, that tell tale nutty smell, so that went in the trash; the other Skin Milk products I bought smell fresh...... a faint vanilla smell; I love the body scrub. For 5.99 each, they are a good product....

Sharlee, if you are looking for good quality, inexpensive, make-up brushes, buy at an artist supply store or craft store. Waaay cheaper than buying a brand name brush at a department store cosmetics counter. Lipstick brushes usually come in it's own plastic or metal case, so that they not only stay clean and don't pick up any lint in your purse, but they won't transfer lipstick to everything in your purse that it comes in contact with. You can find these with cases at dimestores and the quality is pretty much the same as department store lipstick brushes. For at home use, a case-less brush is fine to use since it won't be rolling around in your purse. BTW lipstick brushes aren't really sold so that one can be frugal with lipstick, even though it is frugal to use them. They are used so that they lipstick is applied more accurately. Professional make-up artist use them to achieve the perfect lip line. Tell your rude friend that you use the lipstick brush because you are a perfectionist when applying make-up and offer to buy one for her so her lipstick dosen't look so crooked on her. Heh-he-he. Say it in a "helpful" way. ++++ I remember my Mom's cake mascara too. They sold cake mascara right up to the 70's. I believe it is not sold anymore due to health regulations. Adding water to the product also added bacterial contamination, and the mascara acted as a nutrient medium for this bacteria to grow. One of the bigger problems was that there was often no water available when one wanted to touch up their make-up and saliva was often used as a substitute. Yuck. Eye infections are no fun. This same reasoning is why they do not sell salt tablets that were mixed with water for saline solution, for contact lense wearers. Only saline solution can be sold now. The FDA frowns on home chemistry.

Over time my eyes have become very sensitive and itchy. I've always worn eye makeup -- tons and tons. I never go out without eye makeup. Love it but the last few years, just putting on eye liner is very itchy. So I have some work arounds. First, I use Visine soothing drops before trying to put on any makeup. I like Make Up Forever Aqua Eyes liner pencils -- soft and not too expensive. Sephora has them. Then I fill in with Milani eye liner. It's inexpensive and has an accurate brush. Drugstore.com has it. I've gone around with mascara but always come back to Lancome. They have a base coat/lash conditioner that makes the mascara go on easier and say on very well without irritation. Another mascara that has worked well is Laura Mercier though it didn't thicken enough for me LOL. There are a few removers that work well. I find I need more than one. Lancome's Bi Facil is my longtime staple. It gets most any eye make up off very easily. But then I go over my eyes with the Eye Scrub Lyban linked above -- also from drugstore.com It's sterile in sealed pouches and removes the little bits. I also sometimes use Klorane Floral lotion which is very mild. My eye lids were awfully dry a few years ago -- my skin has become dryer over all. I use Mario Badescu Special Eye Cream V every night. It's sheer and doesn't irritate. Mario Badescu, in NYC., is a salon that makes their own products which are quite gentle. I order those online and usually wait till they have a % off sale and free shipping around holidays. Their emails let you know. They are the best quality/value I've found overall for skin care and the choices are extensive. They have 8 different eye creams depending on skin needs. They also give free samples with order. And their Glycolic Foaming face wash removes all traces of makeup after the two removers -- but leaves skin moist. But there's a whole menu of those too, geared to skin type. I also really love their face creams -- it's hard for me to get any that really moisturize but theirs do. So many suggestions! Will be interesting to see what you like.

Candy cigarettes are still made but not common with the anti-smoking fanatics out there. Also still made but not common are the bubble gum cigars. Sanka is still made too. My aunt was a wonderful cook but for some reason would only use instant coffee, and Sanka was the brand I remember. How many oldsters can forget Burma Shave signs? Fizzies? The little tablets you dropped into water to make a terrible tasting drink but the fun was the plopping and watch it fizz. They once outsold Kool-Aid by a wide margin. Then there's Bromo Seltzer, who incidentally made the original Fizzies. Toni and Lilt home permanents that stunk up the house for days when my mother would use them! Stopette and Poof! deodorants. Oleomargarine wasn't stopped but I do remember the stickers on there for 5¢ tax for colored margarine. Actually there was rationale for the argument since they were trying to sell it as butter when I find no problem believing it's not butter! A favorite cookie of the family was the Aunt Sally Cookies. A molasses cookie with a white icing in a rectangular shape. And as you bought the groceries you'd get trading stamps, S&H, Gold Bond and Holiday were just a few. Let's see what else? Pudding Pops, Planter's Cheese Balls, Apple Newtons. Ivory Soap Flakes, aluminum (silver) Christmas trees with the color wheel light shining on it. Flocked Christmas trees. Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific Shampoo and Hai Karate aftershave.
