Does anyone else have the itch?
Comments (44)Well, after living with in laws for 6 months while the house gets built, we finally moved into the new house 2 weeks ago, I promptly planted 4 taxodium hybrids as soon I get a chance. I have a nice grove of escarpment live oak in the corner of backyard. Never had that much shade so I'm a little excited about what to plant there. Perhaps a couple of JMs with nice red fall color from my brother that he grew from seeds. That's in Houston where he lives so I'm curious to see how they do in bit colder weather over here. There are deer around here but they don't seem to wander close to houses judging on plants on older houses. I guess they are too scared of us unlike at in laws where they come like dogs wanting treats. I've had a couple of big nice looking bucks come right up to me and start eating deer corns out of the bucket! I'm going to miss that. Just so cool......See MoreBAre Minerals a disappointment.......
Comments (17)the reason that you are feeling a pricking itching sensation on your face is not because of the minerals moving around on your face but because of the naturals sunscreen, titanium oxide. some people notice that pricking sensation when they are in the heat or sweating, it will go away after a short time. i experienced this same thing for a short time but i cannot tell you the last time that i felt that and i live where the temperature is commonly over 100 degrees and it is constantly humid. i have been using the makeup for awhile now and could never switch to anything else. i have even tried the avon mineral makeup and it is very thick and cakes easliy. bare minerals is one of the only true mineral makeups and has been around the longest....See MoreBare Mineral Foundation Anyone?
Comments (24)My niece said her skin has never been better but she wasn't sure she could ONLY credit bare minerals since she also recently changed her birth control pills. I've been using the bare minerals now for about 1 month and love it more every day. It did take a little time (for me at least) to figure out how to get the best results. It is very easy to use too much since using just a tiny bit seems so counter intuitive. Now I start out with a small amount of foundation powder and buff, buff, buff that onto my whole face. Even though I now have several red spots on my face from post-menapausal acne and age spots, the foundation alone does a pretty good job of covering everything. For those spots that still peek through, I touch up with a cover-up powder they call bisque, and then buff again with the foundation brush. I also use the bisque to highlight under my eyebrows, along the sides of my nose, and between my eyes and cheek bones. A tiny bit of one of the blush powders buffed onto the cheek apples, a bit of eye shadow, and I'm set to go. I first purchased their second lightest color #2, since I've never considered myself extra light, however I went back and bought the #1.2 which is the lightest shade and like that better. You can also blend the two together right on the brush. I did purchase the Mineral Veil that can be used on top of everything else to give a matte finish, but I don't always use it. The eye shadow and blush powders are very flexible and some can be used interchangeably. You can also wet an eyeliner brush and turn any of the colors into eyeliner, or dip any lip gloss into them and add a touch of color to the lips. This stuff really is remarkable - it is so light and easy to wear. I'll never use a liquid foundation again....See MoreBare Minerals
Comments (50)I tried it twice in the stores. Never bought it. When they give you the whole makeover at the counter they pressure you to buy a kit. I told them I wanted to WEAR it for a while, while I shopped, to see how I like it and then I would come back if I wanted to buy it. They did not like that. The first time it was a hot and sweaty day. The stuff itched terribly. I thought it looked cakey. The second time the weather was fair. Later I was at a restaurant and I noticed the white cloth napkin was full of make-up smears. Gross. While I was at the store the second time, a woman who was with a friend who was trying it, told me she liked the product, but that no matter how careful you are it gets all over the bathroom, even up in the lights. I remember reading that someone had posted that here too. They try to pressure you into buying their brushes as if they are different from any other make-up brushes. I told them I already have lots of brushes and the salesclerk gave me a ridiculous story about how the hairs on their brand are from a special animal and the hairs are cut to "pick up the powder" like as if other brushes do not do that. Whenever I come across a high pressure sales person I am tuned off. When they start lying I just leave....See Moreegillmann
